SHARE YOUR BATTLE Weekly Challenge! MAGI NECROSI

My project-3.png

Hi Splinterlanders! I hope this post finds you well!

Here is my entry for: SHARE YOUR BATTLE Weekly Challenge!

MAGI NECROSI

Edition: Chaos Legion

Element: Death

Attack: Magic

Abilities: Snipe & Camouflage

Magi Necrosi is a powerful magic monster from the Chaos Legion Edition with the snipe and camouflage abilities. There are not many magic snipe monsters in the game and especially the camouflage ability makes this card very effective to play. At level 3, Magi Necrosi receives a third magic attack, making him a force to be reckoned with in battle. Costing 6 mana, he brings considerable fighting force to the table but he is not immune to scatter shot and with limited health points this can be a concern. Nevertheless, he is cloaked by the camouflage ability from all other attack so the chances that he will survive till the final showdown are still quite high.

Here are the stats:

In today's battle we have the rulesets Melee Mayhem & Unprotected

These rulesets can be tricky as one can easily anticipate that the opposition will use a loaded melee team. The earth splinter was open, meaning that there was the possibility that my opponent could either use Mylor to inflict lots of thorns damage or Obsidian to ignore the mayhem and load his team with increased magic. Either way, I had to play defensively or do as he might have done, which was not really an option: I don't have Mylor and am not a big fan of Obsidian, so he is still at level 2.

I decided to go for a death melee line-up with heal and Magi Necrosi at the back. Here is my choice of team with my thought behind card and positioning:

In death matches, the cursed Windeku is an obvious first position candidate more often than not, unless I have enough mana to field a taunt. At 6 mana, lots of HP and thorns, he usually holds his positions well and influences the outcome.

Hydra is one of my very favourite cards and one of the reasons why I simply cannot entertain the thought of quitting wild league. With speed, heal and attack from any position, posi 2 had its name written on it.

The Haunted Spirit, also with heal and good HP, would normally have been in position 2 but neutrals were open and I capitalized on 2 heal monsters being available to place in the middle of the pack. Both heal monsters were there to soak up possible thorns or magic attack while delivering lots of melee damage in the mayhem.

The disintegrator was in 4th position to demoralize and do a trample, a golden rule inclusion when playing Melee Mayhem in silver league with mana to spare.

Sha-vi was there to have first strike at the backline and show some speed work to hostile sneak returns

and here is our boy Magi, staying hidden while spitting lots of magic beyond the front line.

The Battle

I didn't expect to fight a death team and knew Raa would be a concern so Sha-vi needed to not get hit by scatter fire. He struck first and toasted the fiend. Necrosi fired, melee did a bit of damage and Hydra went early. Raa was super dangerous at this point. It got hairy! Shavi and Necrosi ravaged some more but it was finally the disintegrator who stole the show with a perfect trample. Yet Magi Necrosi's shots to weaken Djinn Muirat were instrumental in breaking through the second line of the enemy's defense.

Summary: Always have a sniper in your team and when he has camouflage, he tends to clean up behind the scene.
