SHARE YOUR BATTLE Weekly Challenge! HILL GIANT

Hi everyone! It's time for the a weekly battle challenge, and the challenge this week is the Hill Giant.

About the Monster

Hill Giant
Hill Giant is a low cost common card with decent tanking stats. It has 1 Attack, 1 Speed and 6 Health, and has no abilities at level 1. At level 6, it gains the Stun ability. Its main drawback is that it does not have any Shield to absorb more melee or ranged damage. The stats are much better at level 10 though. The version I'm using is the level 3 gold one which has 2 Attack, with 7 Health.

Ruleset

Armored up: All Monsters have 2 armor in addition to their normal armor stat
Only the Water, Life, Earth and Death Splinters can be used

PositionNameDescription
1Hill GiantIt is the low cost main tank with 7 health (6).
2Fungus FiendIt's 0 mana and is here to slow the opponent down if the Hill Giant is taken down
3Goblin PsychicIt has high Magic attack (2+1) to help kill off the opponent's tank fast, and heal the main tank to let it last longer.
4Khmer PrincessPlaced in the last position, as the secondary damage dealer. The Armor Up ruleset will allow it to last longer against Sneak monsters.

Strategy

This is a low mana battle, and the ruleset is Armored Up. This usually means that it'll be a good strategy to utilise Monsters with Magic attacks, as Magic attacks ignores the armor (except when it gets paired with the Lost Magic or Weak Magic rulesets). So the strategy relies on the additional armor to protect protection for the Magic Monsters which usually have no armor. The Hill Giant is used as the tank as it has high health for a low mana battle, and the Fungus Fiend is used to slow the opponent down a little if the Hill Giant is taken down. The Goblin Psychic is the main damage dealer, and at the same time providing heals to aid the Hill Giant in lasting longer.

I must say I was a little worried when the opponent used the Death Splinter with Thaddius Brood as the summoner, as it meant that my Magic damage will get reduced. If it wasn't for the Armored Up ruleset, I would have probably lost. It was a pretty long drawn battle even though I won.

Thoughts about the Card

I like the Hill Giant, as it is a great tank with high health for low mana battles. This only downside is that it has no shields. However, If you can get it to level 6, it gets the Stun ability which makes it an even better low cost tank.
