For this poem I wanted to express raw, descriptive words that capture the elements my depression is composed of. My Persistent Depressive Disorder often presents itself as a flood of exhaustion. This inability to even move without tremendous effort. The intense weariness leaves me feeling powerless and empty as I can’t do the things I want to do, nor enjoy things I normally enjoy. The ultimate finale is being and feeling alone as I retreat into silence and isolation unable to even summon the energy to ask for help. If you have, are, or know someone experience depression, know that you are still valuable – your worth is an intrinsic part of being human and remains the same regardless of how much you are or are not able to accomplish.
