Twins Forever!

Ki wagged her claw in front of Tee's face, and in return, her sister swatted her paw like a mosquito and bared one of her tiny fangs.

“Don’t you dare click your fangs at me,” Ki admonished her twin sister.

Rod Wheeler watched the sisters with a bemused expression. This beach picnic wasn't going as he had planned, so he rummaged through his picnic basket and fished out a bottle of mead.

“Ladies, who would like something to drink?” he said and shook the bottle from side to side.

The sisters turned their wide feline eyes towards him with a coordination that was rather odd, yet fascinating to Rod. They scrutinized him briefly and then turned back to their heated discussion.

“I think you’re being rather silly. This dangerous bug will leave you fur less and with a stiff tail. Is that what you want?” said Ki reaching out for her sister’s long fluffy tail.

Tee tucked her tail out of reach and crossed her arms. “The reagent is experimental, and I’m not willing to be guinea pig for those creepy magicians.”

“I say this argument can best be settled with a nice cup of mead,” said Rod.

Again, the sisters turned to look at him with wide yellow eyes and long narrow pupils. They wiggled their noses with uncanny synchronization.

“What about the young ones?” said Ki to her sister. “They can’t defend themselves over your bad choices.”

“And what if taking the reagent turns out to be a bad choice?” Tee said. “What if it accelerates the sickness instead of preventing it? Not to say anything of the terrible effects. Jessie’s cousin took it, and three days later, her ears nearly fell off. ”

“She made that up. In all likelihood, her cousin contracted the sickness for not taking proper precautions.”

Tee shook her head. There was a soft breeze blowing from the ocean, and it swayed her long luscious whiskers.

“Here you go, girls,” said Rod pouring the mead into a glass. The crystal was rather delicate and a hassle to lug around, but he wanted to make a good impression on the twins.

“Besides, you may not even have a choice,” said Ki, ignoring Rod’s offer, and focusing her bright eyes on her sister instead.

“I will never take their poison!” said Tee baring her little fangs.

“The medicine is for your own good,” said Ki pouncing on Tee. She turned her sister over and pinched her butt cheek. “They’ll inject you here, here, and here. Three doses or more!”

Ah! Tee squealed with each pinch and tried to get away.

Ki sprang back and in the struggle, she accidentally knocked the glass from Rod’s hand. The crystal shattered on the limestone bed.

“Oh!” The sisters looked at Rod with open mouths.

He stared at the shards on the rock. Without saying a word, he stood up and gathering his picnic supplies, he began to walk away down the beach.

“Where are you going?” Ki called out after him.

“What about the mead?” said Tee.

He threw his paws up in the air and didn’t turn back.

The sisters looked at each other, then rolling over on the sand, they fell laughing on each other arms.
