American literary works that enthralled people around the world!?

I was originally interested in American literature!
I learned American literature from the Japanese!

Japanese overlords

2. American Civilians and Japanese Overlords!

The Japanese overlords whom @valued-customer loves have also studied American literature for a long time.
This is because the overlords of Japan and China believed that whoever controls literature controls the world.

도로 사진 Sima Qian ([sɹ̩́mà tɕʰjɛ́n]; c. 145 – c. 86 BC)

Sima Qian ([sɹ̩́mà tɕʰjɛ́n]; c. 145 – c. 86 BC) was a Chinese historian during the early Han dynasty. He is considered the father of Chinese historiography for his Records of the Grand Historian, a general history of China covering more than two thousand years beginning from the rise of the legendary Yellow Emperor and the formation of the first Chinese polity to the reign of Emperor Wu of Han, during which Sima wrote. As the first universal history of the world as it was known to the ancient Chinese, the Records of the Grand Historian served as a model for official history-writing for subsequent Chinese dynasties and the Sinosphere in general until the 20th century.[1]

Sima Qian ([sɹ̩́mà tɕʰjɛ́n]; c. 145 – c. 86 BC) is called the father of East Asian history by creating the first East Asian literature.
I consider him to be Moses, the first author of the Book of Genesis in East Asia.

Sima Qian ([sɹ̩́mà tɕʰjɛ́n]; c. 145 – c. 86 BC) created the first historical novel to portray China's overlords as great heroes, thereby contributing to their continued domination of the East Asian world.

So, The reason why my respected senior @valued-customer's beloved East Asian overlords still exist today is because of Sima Qian ([sɹ̩́mà tɕʰjɛ́n]; c. 145 – c. 86 BC).😆

The literary works of Sima Qian ([sɹ̩́mà tɕʰjɛ́n]; c. 145 – c. 86 BC) currently occupy the same position as Moses' Genesis in East Asia.
I wonder if my dear religious elder brother Steve will be worried when he hears my argument!

도로 사진 The Nihon Shoki (日本書紀)

The Nihon Shoki (日本書紀), sometimes translated as The Chronicles of Japan, is the second-oldest book of classical Japanese history. The book is also called the Nihongi (日本紀, "Japanese Chronicles"). It is more elaborate and detailed than the Kojiki, the oldest, and has proven to be an important tool for historians and archaeologists as it includes the most complete extant historical record of ancient Japan. The Nihon Shoki was finished in 720 under the editorial supervision of Prince Toneri with the assistance of Ō no Yasumaro and presented to Empress Genshō.[1] The book is also a reflection of Chinese influence on Japanese civilization.[2] In Japan, the Sinicized court wanted written history that could be compared with the annals of the Chinese.[3]

Japanese overlords imitated the literary works of Sima Qian ([sɹ̩́mà tɕʰjɛ́n]; c. 145 – c. 86 BC) to create Nihon Shoki (日本書紀).
Nihon Shoki (日本書紀) was a fantasy historical novel that turned Japan's overlords into great gods.
By studying Nihon Shoki (日本書紀), the Japanese masses became a docile flock loyal to their overlords.

Japan's overlords enjoyed wealth, power, and pleasure as Japanese gods for 1,500 years.

The overlords of Japan created their own sacred and great samurai religions. Japan's overlords claimed to be sacred and great samurai.

But,They were thrown into fear and hatred when the civilians of the New World, @valued-customer, emerged from across the Pacific.

They discovered that @valued-customer had a civilization far superior to their own.

Japanese noble lady and her servants

They were shocked to discover that @valued-customer's world had an overwhelmingly larger territory and infinite resources than theirs!😨

They felt that America would soon conquer Japan and were terrified.
So, They first attempted to understand the enemy's thoughts and psychology by studying American literature.

East Asians believed that literature creates the human soul and thoughts.
They studied American literature deeply and assessed that @valued-customer was their most dangerous enemy.😆

@valued-customer had no respect for the emperors, popes, kings and nobles of Europe from the beginning.

@valued-customer harbors feelings of hostility and opposition towards the overlords.

@valued-customer will eventually destroy Japan's overlords!

@valued-customer's beloved Japanese overlords came to this surprising conclusion!😆

도로 사진 Tarō Hirai (平井 太郎, Hirai Tarō, October 21, 1894 – July 28, 1965)

Tarō Hirai (平井 太郎, Hirai Tarō, October 21, 1894 – July 28, 1965), better known by the pen name Edogawa Ranpo (江戸川 乱歩),[a] was a Japanese author and critic who played a major role in the development of Japanese mystery and thriller fiction. Many of his novels involve the detective hero Kogoro Akechi, who in later books was the leader of a group of boy detectives known as the "Boy Detectives Club" (少年探偵団, Shōnen tantei dan).

Ranpo was an admirer of Western mystery writers, and especially of Edgar Allan Poe. His pen name is a rendering of Poe's name.[2] Other authors who were special influences on him were Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, whom he attempted to translate into Japanese during his days as a student at Waseda University, and the Japanese mystery writer Ruikō Kuroiwa.

However, Tarō Hirai (平井 太郎, Hirai Tarō, October 21, 1894 – July 28, 1965) was fascinated by the excellence of American literature!
He thought American literature was superior to that of Japan and China.
In particular, he praised the literature of Edgar Allan Poe.

So, He chose his pen name Edogawa Ranpo (江戸川 乱歩) in imitation of Edgar Allan Poe.
Edgar Allan Poe's literature is currently gaining cult popularity among Japanese and Koreans because it was a completely new and revolutionary work for East Asians.

Currently, Japanese and Koreans call Edgar Allan Poe the creator of American literature, the creator of world mystery literature, and an unfortunate genius.

Today's Japanese and Koreans admire Edgar Allan Poe's ability to express the raw emotions and thoughts of all humans.
So, I felt that Edgar Allan Poe was greater than Sima Qian ([sɹ̩́mà tɕʰjɛ́n]; c. 145 – c. 86 BC)!😄

I admire Edgar Allan Poe's genius in expressing in sentences the emotions and thoughts hidden in the unconsciousness of East Asians like me!

도로 사진 Cornell George Hopley Woolrich (/ˈwʊlrɪtʃ/ WUUL-ritch; December 4, 1903 – September 25, 1968)

Cornell George Hopley Woolrich (/ˈwʊlrɪtʃ/ WUUL-ritch; December 4, 1903 – September 25, 1968) was an American novelist and short story writer. He sometimes used the pseudonyms William Irish and George Hopley.

His biographer, Francis Nevins Jr., rated Woolrich the fourth best crime writer of his day, behind Dashiell Hammett, Erle Stanley Gardner and Raymond Chandler.[citation needed]

Tarō Hirai (平井太郎, Hirai Tarō, October 21, 1894 – July 28, 1965) argued that Cornell George Hopley Woolrich was a genius comparable to Edgar Allan Poe.

While Edgar Allan Poe symbolized the Puritan world of 19th-century America, Cornell George Hopley Woolrich symbolized the capitalist world of 20th-century America.

I felt that the America of the 19th century and the America of the 20th century were completely different worlds!

Tarō Hirai (平井太郎, Hirai Tarō, October 21, 1894 – July 28, 1965) considered Phantom Lady
to be the greatest suspense mystery novel of all time.

Phantom Lady is a 1942 crime novel written by American author Cornell Woolrich under the pseudonym "William Irish". It is the first novel Woolrich published under the William Irish pseudonym.

I thought Phantom Lady was a masterpiece that revealed the hidden shadows of capitalism and urban civilization in 20th-century America!
It was shocking to see the corruption and injustice hidden behind America's wealth and prosperity revealed through a murder case in New York, America's largest city!

It was certainly impressive to see Puritanism disappearing and atheism and mammonism prevailing in large cities in the United States in the 20th century!😦

The fantastic dance show of a showgirl on the streets of New York at night is shocking to an East Asian man like me!😲
East Asian men probably lack the talent to create such an American-style extravagant, flashy and sexy show!😅

In Phantom Lady, the dazzling jazz performances of the night streets of New York, the dance shows of showgirls, and the appearance of lower-class white people were clearly revealed.

I felt that the night streets and back alleys of New York were the parts of America that white Americans wanted to hide the most!

Phantom Lady gained cult popularity among the Japanese and had a decisive influence on the birth of modern Japanese suspense mystery literature!

Phantom Lady is still very popular with Japanese people today because it directly expresses the anxiety, fear, and desire of civilians living in large American cities during World War II.

So, To this day, Japanese people are creating new Japanese suspense mystery literature by imitating Phantom Lady.

도로 사진 The Kindaichi Case Files (Japanese: 金田一少年の事件簿, Hepburn: Kindaichi Shōnen no Jikenbo)

The Kindaichi Case Files (Japanese: 金田一少年の事件簿, Hepburn: Kindaichi Shōnen no Jikenbo) is a Japanese mystery manga series based on the crime solving adventures of a high school student, Hajime Kindaichi, the supposed grandson of the famous (fictional) private detective Kosuke Kindaichi. Written by Yōzaburō Kanari or Seimaru Amagi (depending on series) and illustrated by Fumiya Satō, the Kindaichi series was serialized in Kodansha's shōnen manga magazine Weekly Shōnen Magazine from October 1992 to October 2017, spanning a total of 76 tankōbon volumes. It is one of the earliest works in the mystery manga genre. In North America, the series was published in English by Tokyopop with the title The Kindaichi Case Files. Only the first 17 volumes (the first series) were released by Tokyopop.

The Kindaichi Case Files (Japanese: 金田一少年の事件簿, Hepburn: Kindaichi Shōnen no Jikenbo) is a famous work in Japan and Korea because it depicts the corruption, desires, crimes, resentments, and revenge of the Japanese people hidden amidst economic development and material abundance!

Disclaimer: The above article is entirely my personal research, so there is a possibility of misunderstanding and error.

I especially hope that my respected senior will understand my awkward and rude American elementary school student's English!😂
