Greetings to all the members of my dear Holos and Lotus community, it is a pleasure to reflect with you about Burnout syndrome, I have to tell you that despite knowing about its effects as such I did not know about this syndrome.
Learning about it, I learned that it is also known as "burnout syndrome" or "burnout syndrome", it refers to a negative physical, emotional and mental response caused by chronic work-related stress.
People experiencing Burnout syndrome may feel physically and emotionally exhausted, have a negative attitude towards their work, lose interest and motivation, and a deterioration in their job performance, they may also experience physical symptoms, such as headaches, sleep problems, chronic fatigue and changes in appetite.
The more I have read about it both in specialized literature and in the posts that have been published, I have to thank our @emiliorios for the proposed initiative.
I work in human resources in a research center and I think we are obliged to analyze this issue with a view to try to influence some of the causes that can cause stress in workers, among them the work environment and the recognition of the work done.
The economic situation that the country is going through is not unknown to anyone, it affects all aspects of life and according to my point of view, survival is really stressful for everyone.
Of course it is reflected in our center and although the majority of the work team is very well managed and the management of the center makes countless efforts to maintain a favorable work environment, it is not always achieved and we must be more dynamic in reacting to the changes that occur in the environment, because what until yesterday could be the best solution to the problems that we have as a work team, in a Today that solution may be wrong because it is not what is needed and causes discomfort and negative situations.
In the center the work environment is not satisfactory, because workers feel pressured, the pace of work is high and of course the economic problems affect the work, on many occasions not having oil to make trips to the field and to perform the validations of their research and sampling can delay the project, we are affected by the lack of tools and work equipment that are already old and make it impossible to perform certain analyses necessary in their research, which brings a set of negative consequences to which they must respond without being their responsibility.
If we add that the salary they receive makes it impossible for them to keep pace with the galloping inflation of basic necessities, we see that many feel they are in a dead end that some leave the center to seek new horizons both in other non-state entities and abroad.
It is possible to appreciate demotivation towards work, aggressive reactions in people who are not characterized by it, expressed desire not to work anymore, the interest in participating in courses or other tasks of improvement has declined, manifest apathy towards activities that used to be pleasant, all of the above at this time has become acute and generalized in much of the group, to the point of having colleagues with high blood pressure problems and certified by depression and even many are considering disengaging from the entity.
And the fact is that the administration, with the objective of supporting the workers, made the decision to put buses that would bring them closer to their area of residence and thus remove the great problem of depending on public transportation, this may seem favorable and was a claim of the workers before the time of Pandemic, that the work schedule was Monday through Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
But... today this measure is not welcomed, let me explain:
And it is that the administration with the objective of supporting the workers made the decision to put bus to bring them closer to their area of residence and thus removed the big problem of depending on public transport, this may seem favorable and was a claim of workers before the time of Pandemic, that the working hours were Monday through Friday from 7: 30 am to 5:00 pm.
But... today this measure is not welcomed, let me explain:
To mitigate the impact of the Pandemic, the Ministry of Labor encouraged remote work and in our center it was implemented since then, at this minute most of our workers have remote work, they only have to go to the center Monday and Thursday to pick up or deliver information and to some work meeting that is stipulated.
By implementing the system of transportation routes, remote work is suspended and the usual schedule is restored, workers prefer remote work because the time yields more and can perform other activities that are essential to live without affecting the work, being researchers can do their projects at any time, even at dawn if they understand it, which gives them the margin (although unofficial) to do some work that will report economically.
I hope that the administration will listen to the workers and solve this situation, and also that they will do a work climate evaluation and how to solve it, to help lower work stress and reduce some of the causes that lead to Burnout syndrome.
