Nuestros nombres es importante porque es el que portaremos por el resto de nuestras vidas, además por ser la palabra con la cual nos identificaremos, y la información que hay detrás es valiosa, ya que no solo tiene un significado etimológico, sino también cultural, de tendencia y emocional, por eso es interesante saber su procedencia, quien lo escogió, que lo motivo a ponernos el nombre, este es el tema que trata @tibaire en su columna conversando con nuestros ancestros donde nos invita a relatar sobre el origen de nuestros nombres y la relación afectiva que tenemos con este.
En una oportunidad mi padre, me contó la historia sobre mi nombre sin que yo se lo pidiera, fue un testimonio revelador para mí, pues siempre creí que mamá había sido quien eligió el nombre de todos mis hermanos y por supuesto del mío, según su relato cuando nací le sugirió a mi madre que me llamará María Ignacia, como su mamá, pero esta se negó, pues ella ya me había escogido el nombre de Yesenia, así que su sugerencia fue obviada, mi progenitora lo encontró en una revista, y le gusto tanto que escogió de inmediato. Sin embargo, le permitió ponerme el segundo nombre que es del Valle.
Este es el motivo por el cual me llamo Yesenia del Valle, es un nombre que siempre me ha gustado, nunca he tenido ningún tipo de adversión hacia ellos, me siento cómoda con llamándome así, me agrada no llevar nombres de mis ancestros, y ahora que conozco la connotación que esto pude tener en la vida de una persona aún más, ya que el nombre va a ser nuestra identificación, con este nos diferenciamos de los demás.
Hace ya varios soles que tuve un pretendiente que me dijo que el nombre Yesenia era de origen hebreo, información que estuvo dándome vuelta en la cabeza por largo tiempo, puesto que en esa época no existía internet, pasaron varias décadas antes de comprobar si aquello que me menciono el chico era verdad o solamente fue parte de su galanteo. A penas llegué a tener acceso al internet en mi casa, busqué su significado y su origen, y me encontré que tenía dos procedencias; una hebrea y otra griega, en la primera significa, mujer amable, y en la segunda regalo de Dios.
El haber conseguido esta información me sorprendió gratamente, pues no me imaginaba que mi primer nombre tuviera significados tan hermosos, y si antes me agradaba ahora me gusta mucho más. En cuanto a mi segundo nombre del Valle, averigüe de este que proviene de la naturaleza, es de origen español, pero su connotación es más religiosa, creo que por ese motivo mi padre selecciono ese nombre para mí, pues él fue un fiel creyente de la religión católica.

Several suns ago I had a suitor who told me that the name Yesenia was of Hebrew origin, information that was going around in my head for a long time since at that time there was no internet, several decades passed before I could check if what the boy mentioned was true or if it was just part of his courtship. As soon as I had access to the internet at home, I looked up its meaning and origin, and I found that it had two origins; one Hebrew and the other Greek, in the first one it means, kind woman, and in the second one, gift of God.
I was pleasantly surprised to have this information, because I did not imagine that my first name had such beautiful meanings, and if I liked it before, now I like it much more. As for my second name the Valley, I found out that it comes from nature, it is of Spanish origin, but its connotation is more religious, I think that for that reason my father selected that name for me because he was a faithful believer of the Catholic religion.
Writing this publication, helped me to see the weight that our name has in life, in my case my father only had the power of decision in mine, because in the case of my other siblings it was not so, although he only chose the second one, something that I had never been aware of until now.
