Y es precisamente cerca de estas y de la iglesia San Nicolás de Bari la cual posee una bella arquitectura donde hace 20 años tuve la primera cita con mi esposa, recuerdo mi nerviosismo en ese entonces, pensando si ella llegaría o se arrepentiría a última hora, sentado en un banco de la plaza esa escultura de esas jóvenes bailando parecían animarme a seguir en la espera y no perder la ilusión hasta que mi amada finalmente llegó a la que sería la primera de muchas citas hasta el sol de hoy. En este me he sentado en otras ocasiones para descansar un rato con las bolsas de los víveres, como le mencioné he tomado muchas fotos del lugar porque esta es la plaza mas visitada de la isla por ser el centro del comercio.

The beautiful work La Ronda by sculptor Francisco Narvaez, inspired by young people who dance and seem to welcome us with joy, make the stay in this place a pleasant one.
And it is precisely near these and the church San Nicolas de Bari which has a beautiful architecture where 20 years ago I had the first date with my wife, I remember my nervousness at that time, thinking if she would arrive or would regret it at the last minute, sitting on a bench in the square that sculpture of those young women dancing seemed to encourage me to continue waiting and not lose the illusion until my beloved finally came to what would be the first of many appointments to this day. In this square I have sat on other occasions to rest for a while with the bags of groceries, as I mentioned I have taken many pictures of the place because this is the most visited square of the island for being the center of commerce.
Los árboles de roble y ceiba ornamentan el lugar y hay un árbol de ceiba muy viejito, se nota en su tronco pero es muy llamativo aún en épocas cuando pierde todas sus hojas, este ha sevido de espacio para el pesebre que adorna en navidad y que refleja la esperanza de los isleños. Mi esposa ama este árbol siempre cuenta que desde niña lo ha visitado y me he dado cuenta que la mayoría de los isleños lo hacen, es como un gran sabio que siempre parece tener los brazos extendidos para todos.
Esta plaza guarda un significado muy especial, una estatua del Libertador Simón Bolívar está ubicada en el centro, sin menospreciar las hazañas del padre de la patria, todo en esta plaza es protagonista, desde los árboles que aportan sombra, ese toque verde que tanto nos atrae, proporciona oxígeno en medio de una ciudad con tráfico constante. Cada vez que camino por sus espacios siento tranquilidad, alegría y los recuerdos se avivan en mi mente. He creado nuevos recuerdos junto a nuestros hijos, sentados en la banca cansados, refunfuñando o alegres por las golosinas o prendas que les compramos.
The oak and ceiba trees ornament the place and there is a very old ceiba tree, you can see it in its trunk but it is very striking even in times when it loses all its leaves, this has served as a space for the manger that decorates at Christmas and reflects the hope of the islanders. This square holds a very special meaning, a statue of the Liberator Simon Bolivar is located in the center, without belittling the exploits of the father of the fatherland, everything in this square is protagonist, from the trees that provide shade, that green touch that attracts us so much, provides oxygen in the middle of a city with constant traffic. Every time I walk through its spaces I feel tranquility, joy and memories come alive in my mind. I have created new memories with our children, sitting on the bench tired, grumbling or happy for the candy or clothes we bought them.
Los lugares pueden detonar hermosos, tristes o melancólicos recuerdos en las personas todo depende de las experiencias vividas.De una u otra manera esta plaza siempre será especial en mis recuerdos y mientras pueda crearé nuevos acá porque son esos recuerdos los que mantienen mi meoria activa, los que me hacen sonreir y disfrutar aún más de las cosas bellas de la vida, gracias por tu atención amigo lector, hasta un próximo encuentro.
