Hoy quiero compartirles una de mis películas favoritas y a explicarles la reflexión que saque tras verlo y como en mi opinión me inculco valores muy importantes cuando era pequeño. La película se titula La Milla Verde (The Green Mile) y es una película de hace varios años, exactamente del año 1999 y la vi por primera vez con 14 años. Está protagonizada por uno de mis actores favorito de todos los tiempos Tom Hanks. Esta película fue nominada en su tiempo a varios Oscars aunque no gano ninguno, y fue dirigida y escrita por Frank Darabont.
La película es fascinante y a pesar de ser bastante larga el tiempo se pasa volando. La película transcurre en el sur de los Estados Unidos en el año 1935, en esa época el racismo era algo que estaba muy presente en la sociedad norteamericana y se prejuzgaba y maltrataban a personas por ser de un color diferente. La trama principal se basa en la entrada al pabellón de la muerte de la penitenciaría de Cold Mountain de John Coffey (interpretado por Michael Clarke Duncan) un preso de color negro y de un tamaño gigantesco, al cual se le acusa de violar y asesinar a dos niñas pequeñas. En la película se ve la relación entre este preso y uno de sus carceleros (Tom Hanks) el cual se encuentra muy intrigado por la naturaleza noble y casi infantil de John Coffey el cual está acusado de cosas atroces. Entre estos dos se forma una relación muy cercana mientras se hace cada vez más inminente el momento de la ejecución en la silla eléctrica del preso. Además, poco a poco se va descubriendo un don sobrenatural que posee el recluso. No les comento más sobre la película para no hacerles spoiler y les recomiendo que la vean.

Esta película aparte de ser muy emotiva, ya que es la primera y única vez que vi a cuatro personas a la vez, entre las que me incluyo, llorando viendo el final de una película. También me dejo muchas enseñanzas las cuales me siento agradecido haber aprendido desde tan joven. Una de estas enseñanzas es la de aprender a no prejuzgar a nadie por el motivo que sea, ya sea por su color de piel, su forma de vestir o de donde provenga. Lamentablemente aún existen personas en el mundo que se dejan llevar por estos prejuicios y maltratan o discriminan a muchas personas, y aunque en ocasiones los maltratos no sean tan evidentes como antes, igualmente se notan y lo notan mucho más las personas que lo sufren. Si tengo que sacar una reflexión de esta película es la de que siempre es importante darte el tiempo de conocer a las personas y no hacerte una idea preconcebida solamente llevándote por temas banales como la apariencia, religión o el lugar de procedencia.

This movie apart from being very emotional, since it is the first and only time that I saw four people at the same time, among which I include myself, crying at the end of a movie. He also left me many teachings which I feel grateful to have learned from such a young age. One of these teachings is to learn not to prejudge anyone for whatever reason, be it because of their skin color, their way of dressing or where they come from. Unfortunately there are still people in the world who are carried away by these prejudices and mistreat or discriminate against many people, and although sometimes the abuse is not as obvious as before, it is still noticeable and much more noticeable by the people who suffer it. If I have to take a reflection from this film, it is that it is always important to give yourself the time to get to know people and not make a preconceived idea only leading you by banal issues such as appearance, religion or place of origin.
