Making an elastic dinner gown + Hiccups with elastic fabrics resolved

Hello creative hiveans. It's nice having you here. I have always loved dinner outings especially dinner dates which I have only ever watched in movies but never attended one myself. So in view of a lovely dinner date experience I got a stiletto 👠 and made a gown.
Follow me in accomplishing my dream of dinner dates experience (dreamy girl) This is my first dinner gown to that journey- an elastic dinner gown.

I cut out my exact fit without allowance so it could fit perfectly as it is an elastic fabric. There is no need for zip just a cut through to the length of my knee.

The only dart was on the front part directly under the arm.

The two fabrics that are straight are for two belts that will run across the hips for a thicker fabric effect around the hips and to prevent the show of panty lines as well.

I also cut out a thick white lining for the sleeves (extra large) to achieve a puffy sleeve. As seen in the picture below.

When I started the sewing machine I discovered the thread was not stitching on the elastic fabric. So I browsed online and discovered on YouTube an easy hack for that.

I was advised to use a masking tape underneath the footer fit a firmer grip and streamlined sewing. I found something that looks like a masking tape - a plaster.

Viola! It sewed beautifully and seamlessly as seen below.

When I got to sewing the sleeves I did not need the plaster attached below the sewing machine footer any more.
