Hace mucho tiempo que me gustaría comprar un mueble de 7 secciones para ubicar elementos correspondientes a los 7 Chakras (fue cuando comencé a leer sobre la meditación Vipasana y Toglen que me interese por este tema), creí que Mercado Libre Venezuela tendría ofertas de estos “altares”, pero no, no había ni siquiera algo parecido.

Como no conseguí una tienda donde lo vendieran me propuse hacerlo yo misma. Aún no está terminado, pero tome algunas fotos del proceso especialmente para Hive, y trate de hacer un video para mi cuenta de TikTok.
Que por cierto, hacer videos en esa app no es tan fácil como parece. Admiro a la gente que logra hacer esas transiciones tan fluidas y bonitas. Yo sufrí mucho para sacar este clip (sean amables pls, no soy boomer pero tampoco nací en el 2000´s) 😂 💦
Since I couldn't get a store to sell it I set out to do it myself. It's not finished yet, but I took some pictures of the process especially for Hive, and I tried to make a video for my TikTok account.
By the way, making videos in that app isn't as easy as it looks, I admire people who manage to make such smooth and beautiful transitions. I suffered a lot to get this clip out (be kind pls, I'm not boomer but I wasn't born in 2000's either) 😂 💦

En Pinterest consigues muchos modelos diferentes de este tipo de Altar, la mayoría son esquineros redondeados o pirámides. Yo escogí hacer un diseño rectangular más sencillo para colgar en la pared.
On Pinterest you get many different models of this type of Altar, most are rounded corners or pyramids. I chose to make a simpler rectangular design to hang on the wall.

• WOOD RESTORATION AND CLEANING •
Un buen sitio para conseguir tablas de madera de pino gratis son en las construcciones, las usan para sostener provisionalmente los marcos de las puertas para que no sean deformadas por la presión. Usualmente después de eso las tiran a la basura.
He tenido suerte porque el 90% de las ocasiones siempre consigo madera de buena calidad en un estado decente.
A good place to get free pine boards are at construction sites, they use them to temporarily support door frames so they are not deformed by pressure. Usually after that they throw them in the garbage.
I have been lucky because 90% of the time I always get good quality lumber in decent condition.
Estas tablas estaban llenas de cemento y unos clavos diabólicos oxidados, pero eran totalmente recuperables con algo de amor y paciencia 👍 💖
Primero utilice un alicate y retire todas las grapas oxidadas. Luego con una espátula raspe todos los pedazos de cemento. Después lave la madera con agua y jabón suave, la deje secar por una semana, y después le aplique muchísima lija a mano hasta que quedara suave.
These boards were full of cement and some rusty devil nails, but they were totally salvageable with some love and patience 👍 💖
First use a pliers and remove all the rusty staples. Then with a putty knife scrape off all the cement pieces. Then wash the wood with mild soap and water, let it dry for a week, and then apply lots and lots of sandpaper by hand until smooth.

• CONSTRUCTION OF THE FURNITURE •
Cuando estuve segura que toda la humedad se evaporo, marque 6 piezas de 32,5cm, 2 piezas de 74cm, y 2 piezas de 36cm. Todas miden 8,5cm de ancho. Las uní con pegamento para madera y deje reposar el mueble en el suelo por 3 días.
When I was sure all the moisture had evaporated, I marked 6 pieces of 32.5cm, 2 pieces of 74cm, and 2 pieces of 36cm. They all measure 8.5cm wide. I glued them together with wood glue and let the furniture sit on the floor for 3 days.
Cuando el pegamento estuvo totalmente seco, y después de confirmar que el mueble estaba bien alineado en todas sus piezas, utilice clavos especiales sin cabeza, para que no se noten (32 clavos más o menos).
When the glue was completely dry, and after confirming that the furniture was well aligned in all its parts, use special headless nails, so that they are not noticeable (32 nails more or less).
Debo acotar que la madera de pino que tenía no me alcanzo para hacer los 8 pisos, por eso tuve que completar el diseño con 1 tablón de MDF (no soy fan del MDF porque no es resistente a la humedad).

• REPAIRING DETAILS •
En este punto estaba muy emocionada porque el mueble se veía mucho mejor de que imaginaba, quedo resistente y hermoso. Por unos días dudé sobre pintarlo, porque la beta de la madera quedaría preciosa si solo lo barnizaba, pero como la madera tiene sellos de tinta que no pude borrar con la lija, era necesario pintarlo para cubrirlo.
At this point I was very excited because the piece of furniture looked much better than I imagined, it was sturdy and beautiful. For a few days I hesitated about painting it, because the beta of the wood would look beautiful if I just varnished it, but since the wood has ink stamps that I couldn't remove with sandpaper, it was necessary to paint it to cover it.
Sé que no es lo convencional pero es un truco rápido y económico que me funciona muy bien, y es utilizar mastique (o masa acriplástica de pared) para curar los golpes, desniveles y huecos en la madera.

• WOOD PREPARATION FOR PAINTING •
En este punto, la parte más pesada del proceso ya pasó. Ahora toca la parte divertida: El último tratamiento con lija tapa-poro para preparar el mueble para la primera capa de pintura. Si este paso está bien hecho, el acabado de pintura será bastante bueno.
At this point, the heavy part of the process is over. Now it's on to the fun part: The final treatment with top-pore sandpaper to prepare the furniture for the first coat of paint. If this step is done right, the paint finish will be quite good.
Yo utilice pintura acrílica color blanco, y solo aplique una base suave para homogenizar los “parches blancos” con el tono crema de la madera de pino y las manchas que no pude remover con esponja y lija.
También hay que aplicar en este punto, otra vez, lija tapa-poro. Al tacto el resultado debe sentirse satinado y suave.
I used white acrylic paint, and only applied a soft base to homogenize the "white patches" with the cream tone of the pine wood and the stains that I could not remove with sponge and sandpaper.
Also apply at this point, again, sanding sandpaper. To the touch the result should feel satiny and smooth.
« STEP N° 6 »
• PAINTING EACH SECTION •
Tomando como referencia el orden de colores de los 7 Chakras (de abajo hacia arriba) comencé a pintar el interior de cada piso. Recomiendo utilizar un pincel de paleta para no manchar los bordes del frente y reverso del mueble.
Taking as a reference the color order of the 7 Chakras (from bottom to top) I started painting the inside of each floor. I recommend using a palette brush so as not to stain the edges of the front and back of the furniture.
Para esta clase de proyectos ya no me preocupa si tengo o no estrictamente los materiales que corresponden para “hacerlo perfecto”, simplemente trabajo con lo que tengo y lo hago con cuidado y cariño. No tenía pintura para madera ni oleos, así que utilicé lo que quedaba de mis viejas pinturas acrílicas.
Para terminarlo, necesito comprar una lata de aerosol color blanco semi-satinado, una lata de sellador transparente, y hacerle agujeros con el taladro para que entren los cáncamos que lo sujetaran a la pared 🤔
For these kinds of projects I no longer worry about whether or not I have strictly the right materials to "make it perfect", I just work with what I have and do it with care and love. I didn't have any wood paint or oils, so I used what was left of my old acrylic paints.
To finish it, I need to buy a can of semi-satin white aerosol, a can of clear sealant, and drill holes for the eyebolts that will hold it to the wall 🤔

Algo gracioso de este proyecto es que muchas personas lo han visto y preguntan por él, ha recibido muchos halagos y también lo tocan por todos lados aún cuando les advierto con tiempo que es un Altar (se supone que este tipo de objetos sólo lo debe tocar el artesano que lo esta fabricando), no se qué sucede con la gente que le gusta manosear compulsivamente las cosas cuando me ven trabajando 😅 🙌 🚫 (tocará hacerle una limpieza antes de utilizarlo).
In conclusion, we should not underestimate materials just because they look a little dirty or have some bumps. Wood is especially re-usable, especially if it is pine (it withstands humidity and bumps very well, and its beta is very resistant) ヽ(〃･ω･)ﾉ
Something funny about this project is that many people have seen it and ask about it, it has received many compliments and they also touch it everywhere even when I warn them in advance that it is an Altar (this kind of objects are supposed to be touched only by the artisan who is making it), I don't know what happens with people who like to compulsively touch things when they see me working 😅 🙌 🚫 (it will touch to make a cleaning before using it).
