¿Cuántas veces se nos ha roto algo de manera accidental y lo damos por perdido? Creo que es algo que nos ha pasado a todos, pero antes de tirarlo a la basura, analicemos un poco y pensemos si realmente es caso perdido, porque es posible que tenga solución.
Y justo de esto les vengo a hablar hoy, o mejor dicho, mostrarles cómo recuperé una flor de vidrio, que de hecho ya habia tirado a la basura porque pensé que no tenía salvación.
Y les cuento un poco cuál fue el motivo de toda esta restauración, y es que en medio de la limpieza de uno de los cuartos que pertenecían a mis hermanas me encontré con un objeto decorativo bastante lindo, pero que no se adaptaba a mi gusto, por lo que decidí transformarlo.
Se trataba de una flor de vidrio que dejó en casa la segunda de mis hermanas, y que no quise siguiera guardada, pero al llevarla a la sala, veo que su color, no era de mi agrado, además de no combinar con los colores que tengo en mi sala, por lo que se me ocurrió pintarla, pero en el proceso y gracias a un mal movimiento dos pétalos de la flor se rompieron, y por supuesto mi primera reaccion fue tirarlos, sin embargo no quise deshacerme de la flor, porque tiene un valor sentimental.
El caso es que al día siguiente desperté con la idea de recuperar la flor, y por mi mente pasaron varias ideas, pero lo primero era recuperar los pétalos que habia botado a la basura, y esa fue la labor de mi esposo, quien no muy contento recuperó las piezas, tres en total, y luego de lavarlas me puse manos a la obra.
Como les cuento, tenía dos opciones para poder pintar la flor luego de pegarla, porque sí o sí, la cambiaría de color, así que pensé en principio,cubrirla con cinta adhesiva de papel como he hecho con las macetas, y luego pintar sobre ella, y aunque inicié este proceso, desistí de inmediato, y pasé a probar una segunda opción, y era cubrir toda la flor con una mezcla de yeso, para luego poder pintar.
Y para este proceso, cubrí en principio, los tres pétalos que permanecieron de pie después del accidente, y una vez secos, para trabajar más tranquila, procedí a fijar los pétalos rotos, con pegamento instantáneo el primero de ellos,y una vez bien fijado lo cubrí con el yeso con mucho cuidado.
Una vez secó el yeso, pasé con el segundo pétalo que estaba roto en dos partes, pero que pude fijar sin problemas, y luego cubrir con la capa de yeso, que no es más, que una mezcla de yeso y agua, y una vez estuvo cubierta toda la flor, la dejé secar hasta el día siguiente.
Y el próximo paso seria lijar con mucho cuidado la superficie, y en este punto confieso, que por cobardía, no lijé lo suficiente, pues me daba miedo se pudiesen despegar los pétalos, y la verdad quería conservar la flor, así que hice lo mejor que pude con la lija, para luego pintarla.
Y lo primero que hice fue cubrirla toda con acuarela amarilla, y al secar darle algo de color con acuarelas rojo y naranja, lo que la hizo estar a tono con la decoración de mi sala comedor.
Dejé secar muy bien, y lo siguiente que hice con ayuda de un pincel, fue darle una capa de pega escolar, para darle algo de brillo y por supuesto protegerla, y de esa manera estuvo restaurada mi flor, y a tono con mi hogar, así que antes de desechar algo que crean perdido, tómense el tiempo de analizar si realmente no tiene solucion.

And this is exactly what I come to talk about today, or rather, show you how I recovered a glass flower, which in fact I had already thrown in the trash because I thought it had no salvation.
And I tell you a little about the reason for all this restoration, and is that in the middle of cleaning one of the rooms that belonged to my sisters I found a pretty nice decorative object, but that did not suit my taste, so I decided to transform it.
It was a glass flower that the second of my sisters left at home, and I did not want to keep it, but when I took it to the living room, I see that its color was not to my liking, besides not combining with the colors I have in my living room, so I thought of painting it, but in the process and thanks to a bad move two petals of the flower broke, and of course my first reaction was to throw them away, however I did not want to get rid of the flower, because it has a sentimental value.
The thing is that the next day I woke up with the idea of recovering the flower, and several ideas went through my mind, but the first thing was to recover the petals that I had thrown away, and that was the work of my husband, who not very happy recovered the pieces, three in total, and after washing them I got down to work.
As I tell you, I had two options to paint the flower after gluing it, because yes or yes, it would change color, so I thought at first, cover it with paper tape as I have done with the pots, and then paint over it, and although I started this process, I gave up immediately, and went on to try a second option, and was to cover the entire flower with a mixture of plaster, and then paint.
And for this process, I covered in principle, the three petals that remained standing after the accident, and once dry, to work more calmly, I proceeded to fix the broken petals, with instant glue the first of them, and once well fixed I covered it with the plaster very carefully.
Once the plaster was dry, I went on with the second petal that was broken in two parts, but I could fix it without problems, and then cover it with the layer of plaster, which is nothing more than a mixture of plaster and water, and once the whole flower was covered, I let it dry until the next day.
And the next step would be to carefully sand the surface, and at this point I confess, that out of cowardice, I did not sand enough, because I was afraid that the petals could come off, and I really wanted to keep the flower, so I did the best I could with the sandpaper, and then paint it.
And the first thing I did was to cover it all with yellow watercolor, and when it dried give it some color with red and orange watercolors, which made it be in tune with the decor of my dining room.
I let it dry very well, and the next thing I did with the help of a brush, was to give it a coat of school glue, to give it some shine and of course protect it, and that way my flower was restored, and in tune with my home, so before discarding something you think lost, take the time to analyze if it really has no solution.
