Happy and blessed week my dear readers.

We continue with cakes!

Today I want to show you a super special topper created for my neighbor Jose Miguel, he is a happy guy and a lover of sports on wheels, he practices "Downhill" and above all he loves his big and beautiful bike called "Santa Cruz".He recently celebrated his 17th birthday and his beautiful older sister wanted to surprise him with a unique cake because she loves him so much.

With the intention of making him something unique, he turned to me and of course I accepted the challenge, I had never made a 3D bicycle before so I must confess I was afraid of the result however, I think it turned out decent and I achieved the resemblance to Santa Cruz.

I hope you can review the full content of this publication and above all give me your appreciation of how it turned out.

Without further ado and hoping you enjoy the work done, I leave you the materials used, the process and the images of the work.

MATERIALS:

  • Wooden sticks.
  • 4 plastic cups No. 2.
  • Silver cardboard.
  • White cardboard (small piece).
  • Black cardboard.
  • Yellow cardboard.
  • Flat black Foami.
  • Textured green foami.
  • Cold paint of black color.
  • Cold paint of white color (to write the letters).
  • Cold silicone.
  • Hot glue.
  • Colored markers.
  • Piece of acetate (to mount the base to the pastel).
  • Cutter.
  • Scissors.
  • Pencil.

PROCESS:

  1. We draw the sketch of the bicycle in the desired size and height.
  2. Take the glasses and glue them in pairs. The hot silicone should be applied on the top edge of the glass and let dry.
  3. With the help of the cutter cut the glasses on the upper edge, both glasses should be cut taking care that the two rings are the same width.
  4. Take the wooden sticks and cut them according to the design created.
  5. After cutting all the sticks to size, gradually join them together with hot silicone, taking care not to apply too much so that the joints do not look too thick.
  6. To cover the wheels, cut a thin strip of black foami, approximately 0.5 centimeters, glue in an area of the plastic ring with hot silicone and go twisting around the entire ring until it is completely sewn.
  7. To simulate the rim cut very thin strips of foami and glue inside the ring, each end of the strips fix with cold silicone to the edge. To be able to fix the rims to the base of the bicycle a circle of black cardboard should be glued right in the center of the glued strips, this circle should have a hole the width of the stick to be able to assemble later.
  8. Decorate the rubber with the details of the original bicycle.
  9. The skeleton of the bicycle should be painted black in all its parts and after drying glue the different accessories that will personalize it. In this case, silver and white cardboard was glued on the front of the bicycle, and the pedals and seat, steering wheel, brakes and name were cut in black foami.
  10. For the assembly start with the rear wheel, to fix it cut the wooden stick of the width of the base, cross it to the cardboard of the wheel and glue it with hot silicone, then paint with black paint.
  11. Repeat the previous process for the front wheel, that is to say, cross the stick the right size to allow the union to the base of the wheel.
  12. Once the wheels are fixed, glue the rest of the accessories already created, pedals, seat, etc.
  13. The base where the bicycle will be mounted is a piece of thick cardboard lined with textured green foami to simulate grass. To this base nail two pieces of wood stick where the wheels of the bicycle will be glued with hot silicone.
  14. To finish the personalization of the topper, the name and age of the birthday was created in black, silver and yellow cardboard. The sticks were lined with silver cardboard.
  15. Ready, enjoy the magic of what was created at home.
