Hola amigos(as), me alegra cheques éste post.

Hello friends, I am happy to check this post.

For those of us who have small children and even for those of us who can remember something from our childhood, we know how complex it can be to learn about time, that is, to learn the days, weeks and months... In this process of teaching at home, as a result of the pandemic, we have had to re-invent ourselves and create didactic alternatives that allow the little ones to learn in a fun way.

The calendar that I want to show you today is a didactic calendar with which children will be able to consolidate the following aspects:

  • To know and recognize the current year.
  • To know and recognize the months of the year.
  • To know and recognize the days of the week.
  • To know and recognize the dates that the days assume according to the month.

This calendar was made with Cariño for Camilo because his mother wanted a versatile calendar that would allow Camilo to play recognizing the days, weeks and months. The intention of what was created is that he will be able to identify the elements to consolidate on a daily basis and thus achieve the objectives over time.

It is a work that uses recycled material (cardboard) and low cost materials, which makes it a wonderful creation to create at home, either with or without the help of the little ones.

Without further ado and hoping you enjoy the work done with love, I leave you the materials used, the process and the images of the work.

MATERIALS:

  • Recycled cardboard (resistant).
  • Blue POP fabric.
  • Yellow colored cardboard.
  • White sheets (recycled were used here).
  • Black and white magic tape.
  • Green and white colored flat Foami (or the one of your choice).
  • Color markers.
  • Hot Silicone.
  • Cold Silicone.
  • Cutter.
  • Scissors.
  • Ruler.
  • Pencil.

PROCESS:

  1. We mark and cut on the cardboard in a rectangle. The measures will be to taste of each person, this one in particular measured 69 cm long by 38 cm high.
  2. Cover the cardboard with the blue POP fabric covering the edges of the cardboard to take care of the aesthetics of the work. Use hot silicone for greater firmness.
  3. On the white sheets, and according to the desired size, mark and paint (with colored markers) the words corresponding to the twelve (12) months, the seven (7) days of the week, the thirty-one (31) days that the month can have and the years (in this case, 2021-2022).
  4. Once the words have been painted and cut out, they should be glued on sturdy cardboard. To do this, the cardboard should be cut to the previously created size, so that it is exact. Care should be taken to ensure that as far as possible all the pieces are the same size so that it looks visually organized and neat.
  5. In the case of the numbers, each square should be covered with yellow cardboard to give it color so that it stands out better against the blue background (the colored cardboard is optional, you can leave the cardboard natural).
  6. On the back of the pieces (numbers, days and months), glue a small piece of magic tape (only the hairy side, the female side) and make sure it is well centered (so that you can glue it on the thick side, the male side of the tape). Use hot silicone for greater firmness.
  7. With all the pieces ready, mark the cardboard with the form in which you want the calendar to be presented. To make sure it is well delimited, I used paper adhesive tape to simulate the stripes and with them delimiting the space, stick the magic tape (thick side, the male side of the tape) vertically so that the pieces of the numbers of the days can be fixed later.
  8. In the area where the months will go, cut on the foami the word "month:" and glue it with cold silicone. Also glue the piece of magic tape where the months will be glued.
  9. In the area where the year will go, cut on the foami the word "Year:" and glue it with cold silicone.
  10. Remove the paper tape and finish decorating to taste, in this case I marked small lines with soft colored chalk.
  11. To avoid losing the pieces, you should make or get a small box to keep the pieces and the child can take them every time he/she wants to adjust the calendar.
  12. Ready, enjoy the magic of what you have created at home to teach the little ones at home.
