Learn with Gabo #3 / Aprende con Gabo #3 [ENG/ESP]

*****English version*****

(Abajo está la versión en español)

In previous installments of Learn with Gabo, I showed you how to make a watercress and how to make teddy bears. In these last two posts I gave you some tips and keys to master the basic shapes and start molding your own figures.

In this third installment we will test the skills you have obtained in the first and second installment of Learn with Gabo, in case you have followed these simple tutorials.

If you would like to read them, you can do so by following these links:

Well, this time we will make a simple figure, but with something that we have not done in previous installments, accessories. We will work on Kirby, the lovable Nintendo game character. This character is special for accessories, because he has the ability to change his powers depending on what he eats and changes shape depending on each power, so we can make him many accessories for a single base body and that's what this installment will be about. That said, let's start the Learn with Gabo #3.

1.png

Now, to make this figurine we will need the following materials:

*Color Plasticine
*Scissors
*Knitting needle

2.png

For Kirby's base body we will only use pink, black, white, blue, light pink and red; however, for the accessories, we will use the other colors.

Well, let's start. As in the previous figures we have made, clo first will be to make a sphere for the body of the figure, in this case, a pink sphere (1). It is not a difficult torso to make, so next will be the feet. To do this we make two red spheres (2), mold them into cone shapes (3), flatten them at the base (4) and finally attach a pair of toothpicks (5).

3.png

Next, make two holes in the base of the torso (6) to fix each foot (7). It looks like this:

4.png

Time to work on the arms. To do this we must make two spheres of the same color as the torso (8), we mold them in the shape of a rounded cone at the tip and place toothpicks (9), then we fix them on the torso just as we fixed the feet (10).

5.png

To make Kirby's mouth, use the knitting needle. With the rounded tip, we make a hole right in the center of the figure until we give it the desired shape (11). Then we put some red plasticine and flatten it to simulate the inside of Kirby's mouth (12).

6.png

For the eyes, make two cylinders of black plasticine and flatten it (13). We use a small blue plasticine tortilla and place it in the lower part of the eye (14). We do the same with white plasticine and place it on the upper part of the eye (15). Finally we use two flattened cylinders for the cheeks (16), it has to be of a pink color a little lighter than the color of the body.

7.png

This is how our Kirby figure looks like:

8.png

We have previously made figures with shapes similar to the ones used to make this figurine, so it shouldn't be a problem to do so. Now, let's continue with the accessories...

The first accessory that I will make will be a ribbon to make what would be the Kirby fought. For this we have to make a sphere of red plasticine (19). We make a cylinder with this sphere and roll it on a flat surface to stretch it (20, 21, 22). When we have a long line of plasticine thin enough, we flatten it (23).

9.png

As if it were a real piece of fabric, we cross it to give it the right size for Kirby's head (24). Once we adjust the size of the ribbon, we cut where the two ribbons cross (25), then we make a sphere and place it at this junction (26).

10.png

With the other pieces of red plasticine we had, we make two more pieces of ribbon (27), then we make a v-cut at one end (28). Finally we have to place these straps under the sphere that we previously placed on the ribbon (29).

11.png

It only remains to adjust it to Kirby and it will be as follows:

12.png

This Kirby can throw strong blows in the purest Dragon Ball style, so we will make one more accessory to simulate a blow.

This is very simple, just make two plasticine spheres, one yellow and the other orange (30). We have to squash it until both spheres merge (31), then, using our thumb, we drag this mixture on a flat surface until we create the desired effect (32). Then we make small cuts along each end (33).

13.png

For the following we will use a blue sphere (34). We flatten it until we make a sort of semi-circle (35) and simply tear off the edge of the flat end until we get the effect shown in the image below (36). Finally we place the fire we made before on the blue shape we just made (37).

14.png

The figurine will look like this (it is an animation):

15-a.gif

Now, to make another accessory, in this case, the accessories for the swordsman Kirby, which are a green beanie and a sword.

To make the beanie we make a green sphere (38) and simply mold it into a cone shape (39, 40, 41). This beanie has two accessories, a mop that we will place at the tip of the beanie (42) and a ribbon. For the ribbon we must make a rectangle of yellow plasticine (43), then gradually flatten it (44) until it stretches enough so that it can surround the base of the green cone (45).

16.png

As I said, the yellow tape will be around the base of the green cone (46). The yellow mop will be at the tip of the cone. Once the mop is placed, we use the knitting needle to make the folds where we will fold the hat (47), then we fold it and make a couple more folds with the needle (48). Finally we place the ribbon around the base of the cone (49).

17.png

For the sword we will only use a toothpick, which we will cover with white plasticine, as if it were a popsicle stick (50). Using a scissors, we cut the plasticine to give it the shape of the sword (51). With blue plasticine we make two tortillas and two triangles, plus two more tortillas to simulate a jewel (52). Then we join all these pieces to make our sword (53).

18.png

By placing all these accessories on the Kirby, it will be as follows:

19.png

The last Kirby we will make will be the Kirby Stone. To make this Kirby you just have to make a few rocks for the crown that you will have. To make rocks you just have to use plasticine and scissors.

We make a brown sphere (54), we make a superficial cut with the scissors at one of the ends (55), then we make cuts across the entire surface of the sphere until it looks like a rock (56). We do the same, there are enough plasticine spheres that can cover the head of our Kirby. The last thing will be to make a black ribbon like the yellow ribbon we made for the swordsman's green hat (58).

20.png

This crown has jewels, so to make them we follow the same technique that we use for the rocks. We make a plasticine sphere (59), crush it (60) and cut it with scissors to obtain the desired shape (61). You have to make four more jewels, two brown and two purple, finally two fangs with a blue base, which are simply two white cones on a blue tortilla (62).

21.png

With all the accessories ready, it's time to assemble the crown. We make a brown tortilla for the base and on this we place the accessories that we already made, as shown in the following animation:

22.gif

Our Kirby stone will be as follows:

23.png

Well friend, these are all the accessories that we managed to make for our Kirby, a total of three "clothes" to make three figures with a single base body. As I said, you can make endless accessories for this Kirby and continue experimenting with accessories to practice shaping it.

24.png

What did you think of the publication? They like me? I hope you liked it, as much as I liked writing the publication and making the figurine. If you like, you can leave your opinions in the comments and I will be happy to read them. Without further ado, I say goodbye then ...

See you next time!

15-a.gif
