I have always said that art can be relaxing for those of us who practice it. Digital drawing is another artistic expression that I love to practice, I certainly find it relaxing to sit at the computer to give free rein to my imagination and capture in this digital canvas a part of my being.
This time I came out with this drawing which I titled Smiling Heart, I hope you like it. Next I will tell you a little about the creative process of this drawing.

Siempre he dicho que el arte puede ser algo relajante para quienes lo practicamos. El dibujo digital es otra expresión artística que me encanta practicar, ciertamente me resulta relajante sentarme en la computadora a dar rienda suelta a la imaginación y plasmar en este lienzo digital una parte de mi ser.
En esta ocasión salió este dibujo al cual titulé Corazón Sonriente, espero que les guste. A continuación les comentaré un poco sobre el preceso creativo de este dibujo.
You may be wondering what inspired me on this occasion. The truth is that I was thinking about my cat.
I recently had the joy of finding out that my other cat, who is at my mom's house, had kittens. This made me very happy and made me think about how pets can bring a lot of joy to whatever difficult situation we are going through.
These little creatures, no matter how black their fur may be, can be light in the darkest of times.....
The program I used for this drawing is Medibang Paint Pro. Here you can see the workspace I created:
Puede ser que se pregunten en qué me inspiré en esta ocasión. Lo cierto es que estaba pensando en mi gata.
Hace poco tuve la dicha de enterarme de que mi otra gata, que está en casa de mi mamá, tuvo gatitos. Esto me alegró mucho y me hizo pensar en como las mascotas pueden alegrarnos mucho en cualquier situación difícil por la que estemos pasando.
Estas pequeñas criaturas, por más negro que sea su pelaje, pueden ser luz en los momentos más oscuros...
El programa que usé para este dibujo es Medibang Paint Pro. Aquí pueden ver el espacio de trabajo que creé:
I'll be honest, when I started to make this drawing I wasn't sure what I wanted to do, but the first thing that came to my mind was to draw a heart, then the general idea was drawn in my mind, now it was time to capture it on the canvas.
The first thing I did was to create the sketches. I made some simple lines of the body of the heart, the hands and the legs. I also made the guide lines for the eyes, nose and mouth, as shown in the image below:
Les voy a ser sincero, cuando comencé a hacer este dibujo no tenía claro qué quería hacer, pero lo primero que se me ocurrió dibujar fue un corazón, luego la idea general se dibujó en mi mente, ahora era turno de plasmarla en el lienzo.
Lo primero que hice fue crear los bocetos. Hice unas líneas sencillas del cuerpo del corazón, las manos y las piernas. Hice también las líneas guías para ojos, naríz y boca, tal como ser observa en la imagen de abajo:

I also added a couple of details, such as a bow tie and a little band to cover a wound in this heart, a symbolism of difficult moments.

También coloqué un par de detalles, como lo es un corbatín y una bandita que cubra una herida que tiene este corazón, que un simbolismo de momentos difíciles.

With the sketch well defined, I started to make the outline. Normally I use brushes with an opacity reduced to half for the sketch, this way it remains in the background when the outline is going to be done, with a darker and more solid brush.
In this case I used a feather brush with sizes between 4 and 9. I made another layer to make the outline, so that I could hide the sketch so that the outline was only on the canvas, as a clean job.
Con el boceto bien definido, comencé a hacer el delineado. Normalmente uso pinceles con una opacidad reducida a la mitad para el boceto, de esta manera queda en un segundo plano cuando se va a hacer el delineado, con un pincel más oscuro y sólido.
En este caso usé un pincel de pluma con tamaños entre 4 y 9. Hice otra capa para hacer el delineado, de modo que pude ocultar el boceto para que el delineado quedara solo en el lienzo, como un trabajo limpio.

Time to color. I used many colors although not all of them are clearly visible in the drawing. Some I simply used them for shadows and they are not very visible, while others are evident in the drawing, as they stand out in most of the work.
In the image below you can clearly see the color palettes I used:
Hora de colorear. Usé muchos colores aunque no todos se aprecian claramente en el dibujo. Unos simplemente los usé para sombras y no se ven demasiado, mientras que otros son evidentes en el dibujo, pues resaltan en gran parte del trabajo.
En la imagen a continuación pueden ver claramente las paletas de colores que utilicé:
The first color I used was red, to color the body of the heart. I used a large brush to color the whole area and then started using the different shades of red from the color palette to create the corresponding shadows.
On the left is an image of the drawing before applying the shadows, on the right after applying them:
El primer color que utilicé fue el rojo, para colorear el cuerpo del corazón. Usé un pincel grande para colorear toda el área y luego comencé a usar las distintas tonalidades de rojo de la paleta de colores para crear las sombras correspondientes.
A la izquierda está una imagen del dibujo antes de aplicar las sombras, a la derecha después de aplicarlas:

For the eyes I used white and light blue, applying the colors in that order. Then I used a large brush to make the pupil and the white circles that simulate the glow of the eyes.
Para los ojos usé el blanco y el azul claro, aplicándo los colores en ese órden. Luego usé un pincel grande para hacer la pupila y los círculos blancos que simulan el brillo de los ojos.

I also colored the two circles I made to simulate blush on the character's face, for this I used the lightest shades of pink.
For the tie, which you can see in the image below, I used the different shades of blue for the base color and the shadows.
También coloreé los dos círculos que hice para simular rubor en el rostro del personaje, para esto usé los tonos más claros de rosado.
Para el corbatín, que pueden ver en la imagen de abajo, usé las distintas tonalidades de azul para el color base y las sombras.
Finally I applied a light skin color for the bandeau, the crimson and the black I used to create the shadows on the bandeau. For the crack in the heart I didn't use any specific color, I didn't apply shadows or anything.
Finalmente apliqué un color piel claro para la bandita, el carmesí y el negro lo usé para crear las sombras en la bandita. Para la grieta que tiene el corazón no usé ningún color específico, no apliqué sombras ni nada.
The arms of the heart have a caricatured style that can remind, for example, those of spongebob; long and thin, but with big hands and feet.
To paint the arms and legs I used gray as a base and black to create shadows. For the gloves I used white and for the boots I simply applied the same colors I used for the little band with the heart on the top, in the crack.
Below you can see the coloring of these parts of the drawing. On the right I changed a little the background color so that the coloring of the gloves can be seen better.
Los brazos del corazón tienen un estilo caricaturizado que pueden recordar, por ejemplo, a los de bob esponja; largos y delgados, pero con manos y pies grandes.
Para pintar los brazos y piernas usé el gris como base y el negro para crear sombras. Para los guantes usé el color blanco y para las botas simplemente apliqué los mismos colores que usé para la bandita que tiene el corazón en la parte de arriba, en la grieta.
A continuación pueden ver el coloreado de estas partes del dibujo. A la derecha cambié un poco el color de fondo para que se visualice mejor el coloreado de los guantes.

Finally I painted the kitten in the drawing, which is black. I painted this kitten first in gray and then applied black to create shadows. Below are a couple of images of the process:
Finalmente pinté a la gatita del dibujo, que es negra. Esta gatita la pinté primeramente de color gris y luego apliqué negro para crear sombras. Abajo está un par de imágenes del proceso:

To finish the drawing I painted the background. I made a background divided in two colors, brown and blue, showing in each color its different tonalities; the blue is for the sky and the brown for the floor.
After I had my background painted, I made some dividing lines between the sky and the ground and created some shadows for both the cat and the heart, applying more strength with the brush on the objects closer to the ground, such as the gloves and the shoes.
Para terminar el dibujo pinté el fondo. Hice un fondo dividido en dos colores, marrón y azúl, viéndose en cada color sus distintas tonalidades; el azul es para el cielo y el marrón para el piso.
Luego de tener mi fondo pintado, hice unas líneas divisoras entre el cielo y el suelo y creé unas sombras tanto para la gata como para el corazón, aplicando mayor fuerza con el pincel en los objetos más cercanos al suelo, como los guantes y los zapatos.

This is how this little drawing was finished, which left me quite happy. It is not as elaborated or complicated as the previous one, the truth is that it is quite simple in my opinion, but it still helps me to improve in new aspects of digital drawing.
Así quedó terminado este dibujito, que me dejó bastante contento. No es tan elaborado o complicado como el anterior, la verdad es que es bastante sencillo en mi opinión, pero aún me ayuda a mejorar en nuevos aspectos del dibujo digital.
