Greetings to all my dear creative colleagues. On this occasion I come to share with you my participation in the "Cardboard World" contest.

I had already seen the contest and I had been preparing my entry for days, because I don't have so much time to sit all day to make the figure I will present; however, I organized myself to finish it to show it to everyone. Without further ado, I present to you King Ghidorah.
I had previously made a mechagodzilla for another contest in this same community, so when I saw that there was a cardboard one I thought it was appropriate to make King Ghidorah, Godzilla's enemy. I'll show you how I made it and the materials I used, all that said. Let's get started.
Since the contest is made of cardboard, that's basically what I used, cardboard, in addition to my usual implements:
The cardboard sheets I used are a slightly thinner but sturdy cardboard, ideal for the skeleton of the figure.
As you can see, I cut a sheet of cardboard (1) and then divided it in half (2). I rolled one of the halves (3) and folded its edges inward, to firm its shape (4).
Once I have my cylinder ready, I fold it in half to give it some curvature (5), then I cut in the middle the other half of cardboard I had left (6). With those two squares I make two more cylinders.
I stapled the smaller cylinders to seal the bottom (8) and then used glue to adhere them to the larger cylinder (9).
I made two more cardboard cylinders and made cuts at one end to attach them to the main cylinder, this would be the legs of our Ghidorah (10). For the knees I made two more cylinders and glued them in the desired position (11).
I made two cylinders a little wider at the bottom to make the feet of the figure, then cut them a little diagonally at the bottom (12). To attach them to what would be the knee, I made two cuts in the cylinder (13) and then wedged the feet in place, using glue to attach them firmly (14).
This is the way our figure is going so far...
For the necks of our Guidora, I made two more cylinders from the same cardboard, much smaller so they could fit into the holes I had already made in what would be the torso of the figure (16 and 17).
This is how it looked....
This figure has two tails, so to make them I made a main cylinder from which the tails would branch off. I made cuts just as I did with the knees to embed the other pieces (19 and 20), then made two more cylinders and wedged them in place (21).
Obviously I used staples and glue to fix the figure.
For the wings I used a much harder and thicker cardboard than the previous one (24). On this one I made the pattern for the base of the wings, and then cut them out (25).
I made more patterns for other pieces and cut them out (26), then attached them with glue and staples (27).
I cut another piece to make the wing longer, as it was too short (28) and finally I added another piece at the bottom of each wing, which can be seen in the wing on the right (29)..
I attached each wing to the figure using glue and staples (30). To give it more support, I cut a small piece of thin cardboard (31), folded it into a triangle (32) and placed it between the wing and the torso of the figure (33).
For the tails I made a pair of cones from the same thin cardboard (34), then fixed each one in place (35).
I made cuts in the collars to give them more mobility and fixed each one in place:
To make what would be the skin of the figure, I used the same thick cardboard as the wings and left it in water for a few minutes, so that it would become much softer and more manageable.
Before covering the figure, I attached the toes to the figure's feet (37), then covered piece by piece each part of the figure with the wet cardboard sheets (39, 39 and 40).
I noticed that the wings were very weak, so I made two triangular-shaped cardboard columns and fixed them in each place with staples and glue (41), then continued covering with the cardboard sheets (42).

Once the torso was finished I started working on the heads. I made patterns (44 and 47), cut and folded them (45, 46 and 48), then joined everything together in one piece (49).
When fixing the heads in place, I helped myself with wires to hold them in place while the glue dried, then continued attaching details and accessories (51 and 52).
I also placed some lateral ridges that Guidorah has (53) and a pair of horns (54).
The last thing would be the wings, so I used thin sheets of wet cardboard and covered the skeleton of the wings. In the following animation you can see the step by step:

I said that it is the base color because I used a mustard color to give another tonality to our figure, which would be the final color that this one would have. Below is an animation of the painting process:

Ya había visto el concurso y habia estado preparando mi entrada desde hace días, porque no dispongo de tanto tiempo como para sentarme todo el día a hacer la figura que presentaré; sin embargo, me organicé para lograr terminarla para mostrársela a todos. Sin más que agregar, les presento a King Ghidorah.
Anteriormente había hecho un mechagodzilla para otro concurso de esta misma comunidad, así que al ver que había uno de cartón me pareció apropiado hacer a King Ghidorah, el enemigo de Godzilla. Les mostraré cómo lo hice y los materiales que utilicé, dicho todo esto. Comencemos.
Como el concurso es de cartón, pues eso fue básicamente lo que utilicé, cartón, además de mis implementos habituales:
Las láminas de cartón que utilicé son un cartón un poco más delgado pero resistente, ideal para el esqueleto de la figura.
Como pueden observar, corté una lámina del cartón (1) y luego la dividí a la mitad (2). Enrollé una de las mitades (3) y doblé sus bordes hacia adentro, para afirmar su forma (4).
Una vez que tengo mi cilindro listo, lo doblo a la mitad para darle cierta curvatura (5), luego corto en el medio la otra mitad de cartón que me quedó (6). Con esos dos cuadritos hago dos cilindros más.
Los cilindros más pequeños los grapé para sellar la parte de abajo (8) y luego usé pegamento para adherirlos al cilindro más grande (9).
Hice dos cilindros más de cartón e hice cortes en uno de los extremos para luego fijarlos al cilindro principal, esto serían las piernas de nuestro Ghidorah (10). Para las rodillas hice dos cilindros más y los adherí con pegamento en la posición deseada (11).
Hice dos cilindros un poco más anchos en la parte de abajo para hacer los pies de la figura, luego las corté un poco en diagonal en la parte de abajo (12). Para fijarlos en lo que sería la rodilla, hice dos cortes en el cilindro (13) y luego calcé los pies en su lugar, usando pegamento para fijarlo firmemente (14).
De esta manera va nuestra figura hasta ahora...
Para los cuellos de nuestro Guidora, hice dos cilindros más del mismo cartón, mucho más pequeños para que pudiesen entrar en los agujeros que ya había hecho en lo que sería el torso de la figura (16 y 17).
Así quedó....
Esta figura tiene dos colas, así que para hacerlas hice un cilindro principal desde el cual se bifurcarían las colas. Hice cortes tal como hice con las rodillas para incrustar las otras piezas (19 y 20), luego hice dos cilindros más y los calcé en su lugar (21).
Obviamente me ayudé de grapas y pegamento para fijar la figura.
Para las alas ocupé un cartón mucho más duro y grueso que el anterior (24). En este hice el patrón de la base de las alas, para luego cortarlas (25).
Hice más patrones para otras piezas y lar corté (26), luego las fijé con pegamento y grapas (27).
Corté otro trozo para hacer más larga el ala, pues me había quedado corta (28) y finalmente agregué otra pieza en la parte baja de cada ala, la que se observa en el ala de la derecha (29).
Cada ala la fijé en la figura usando pegamento y grapas (30). Para darle mayor soporte, corté un trocito del cartón delgado (31), lo doblé en forma de triángulo (32) y lo coloqué entre el ala y el torso de la figura (33).
Para las colas hice un par de conos del mismo cartón fino (34), luego lo fijé cada uno en su lugar (35).
Hice cortes en los cuellos para darles mayor movilidad y los fijé cada uno en su lugar:
Para hacer lo que sería la piel de la figura, usé el mismo cartón grueso de las alas y lo dejé en agua por unos minutos, para que se volviese mucho más blando y manejable.
Antes de cubrir la figura, le coloqué los dedos a los pies de la figura (37), luego cubrí trozo a trozo cada parte de la figura con las láminas de cartón mojado (39, 39 y 40).
Noté que las alas estaba muy débiles, así que hice dos columnas de cartón con forma triangular y las fijé en cada sitio con grapas y pegamento (41), luego continué cubriendo con las láminas de cartón (42).

Una vez terminado el torso comencé a trabajar con las cabezas. Hice patrones (44 y 47), los corté y los doblé (45, 46 y 48), luego uní todo en una sola pieza (49).
Al fijar las cabezas en su sitio, me ayudé con alambres para mantenerlas en su lugar mientras el pegamento secaba, luego continué colocando detalles y accesorios (51 y 52).
Coloqué también unas crestas laterales que tiene Guidorah (53) y un par de cuernos (54).
Lo último serían las alas, así que usé láminas delgadas de cartón mojado y cubrí el esqueleto de las alas. En la siguiente animación pueden ver el paso a paso:

Dije que es el color base porque usé un color mostaza para darle otra tonalidad a nuestra figura, que sería el color final que esta tendría. A continuación una animación del proceso de pintado:

¿Qué les pareció? Disfruté mucho haciendo esta figura y confieso que fue bastante trabajosa, así que estoy muy contento de poder compartir todo mi trabajo con ustedes.
