Un saludo caluroso a mi estimada familia de #HIVEDIY, hoy les vengo a traer todas las bendiciones de nuestra querida madre la Virgen del valle quien el día 9 estuvo de cumpleaños y todos sus hijos aprovechamos para suplicarle por nuestras necesidades. Yo como siempre le quiero pedir por nuestra salud y para que siempre nos ilumine en nuestro camino, para que nos vaya bien en nuestra querida plataforma.
Con esta dicha que hoy me embarga les vengo a presentar mi más reciente proyecto, una esponja natural para el baño o la cocina, hecha a partir de estropajo o zacate.

With this joy that overwhelms me today I come to present my latest project, a natural sponge for the bathroom or kitchen, made from scouring pad or grass.
¿Qué es el ESTROPAJO o ZACATE?
Es un tipo de esponja utilizada para lavar nuestros utensilios de cocina o como esponja para limpiar las impurezas de nuestro cuerpo. Está formado por un conjunto de fibras naturales o sintéticas con propiedades abrasivas.
Estas esponjas se popularizaron a partir de que se le comenzó a utilizar para la elaboración de esponjas exfoliantes, muy utilizadas en centros de belleza y Spas, pues son de alta calidad y brindan muy buenos resultados dermatológicos. Las grandes tiendas de cosméticos las ofrecen a sus clientes de formas y colores muy hermosos.
What is STROPOJO or ZACATE?
It is a type of sponge used to wash our kitchen utensils or as a sponge to clean impurities from our body. It is made up of a set of natural or synthetic fibres with abrasive properties.

Yo he conseguido esta semilla de estropajo gracias a mi hermana Trina quien tiene una hermosa planta en su patio, ella me había prometido que cuando una de estos estropajos se secara completamente lo tomaría y me lo regalaría y así fue. Apenas tu tuve entre mis manos busqué ideas para mostrarle lo fácil que es trabajarlos y además con sus semillas pienso sembrar unos cuantos árboles para montar mi fábrica de esponjas personales, ¡Que tal!
I have got this strop seed thanks to my sister Trina who has a beautiful plant in her backyard, she had promised me that when one of these strop dried completely she would take it and give it to me as a present and so it was. As soon as I had it in my hands I was looking for ideas to show her how easy they are to work with and also with their seeds I plan to plant a few trees to set up my personal sponge factory, how about that!

Por ser la primera vez que trabajaba este tipo de material no sabía con qué me iba a encontrar, así que solo fui abriendo la concha y partí por la mitad, en un principio ´pensé en hacer una esponja en forma de corazón pero preferí dejarla así para aprovechar cada centímetro de la fibra. Tal vez más adelante le pueda mostrar otras formas cuando mis matas de estropajo comiencen a producir. -.o
Being the first time I worked with this kind of material I didn't know what I was going to find, so I just opened the shell and split it in half, at first I thought of making a heart-shaped sponge but I preferred to leave it like that to take advantage of every centimetre of the fibre. Maybe later I can show you other shapes when my sponge bushes start to produce. -.o
En internet observé que el corazón del estropajo donde se encuentran las semillas se va retirando poco a poco con la ayuda de las tijeras y un cúter o una hojilla, luego hice la forma enfrentando ambas piezas y comencé a tejer con la técnica de crochet un borde en puntos bajos y punto abanico por todo el contorno. Para esto utilicé hilo de tejer Carmencita, es decir de una habrá delgadita y una aguja 1,50 milímetros.
On the internet I observed that the heart of the strop where the seeds are located is removed little by little with the help of the scissors and a cutter or a blade, then I made the shape facing both pieces and I started to crochet a border in low stitches and fan stitch all around the contour. For this I used Carmencita knitting yarn, i.e. of a thin yarn and a 1.50 millimetre needle.
