Making A DIY Baby Jumpsuit Gone Wrong? 😱

It's so cool using pieces of leftover fabric until finish, that's like my own way of saving the environment. You can always make things like napkins, cover cloths, hair bonnets and so much more with leftover pieces. My favorite thing to make with my leftovers is baby outfits. I have a two year old niece so it's easy to cook up an outfit for her small frame with leftover pieces.

This particular fabric is what I used in making a dress for my mum and shorts for myself, still I was left with a little more.

The Process

I have a pattern draft of a top bodice for my niece so I used that in cutting the top. A jumpsuit is basically a top attached to a trouser at the waist.

I didn't have my niece's measurements for the trouser so I relied on online size chart measurements to cut the trouser part.

I then joined the front top to the front trouser and the back tops to the back trouser pieces respectively.

I wanted a cap sleeve, it's a sleeve that goes half way at the armhole. To make it flare, I slashed and spread the paper pattern of the sleeve.

I attached the sleeve, put a zipper at the back and closed the seams.

That's how easy it is to make a baby jumpsuit!

My niece eventually tries it on and voila, it couldn't go past her butt, I underestimated the baby's booty. The online size chart measurements failed me.

She happens to like it so much because she loves bright colors. Now I have to deconstruct and turn this to a gown, at least it'd fit as a gown.

My effort was kinda wasted and I'd have preferred giving it to a one year old girl instead but my princess wants this color, anything for my princess.

Stay tuned for the reconstruction.
