Muy buenas a todos los lectores, esta vez les traigo mi segunda reseña Tokusatsu, de una serie que del 2006 que a envejecido muy bien.

Review - Kamen Rider Kabuto
Historia / Plot
En un mundo alterno al nuestro cayó un meteorito en Shibuya causando la destrucción de este distrito, del meteorito salen criaturas llamadas “Worm” los cuales pueden copiar la imagen y recuerdos de las personas, además de tener súper-velocidad. Para pelear con estos aliens se crea la organización ZECT, la cual su mayor arma son los Zecters, dispositivos con forma de insectos que poseen mente propia y otorgan a sus usuarios elegidos el transformarse en Kamen Riders y moverse a alta velocidad. Kagami Arata es un empleado de ZECT que busca ser elegido por el Kabuto Zecter, pero este elige a Souji Tendou, un civil que entreno toda su vida para ser el hombre perfecto y así ser digno del Kabuto Zecter, transformarse en Kamen Rider Kabuto. Debido a esto, Kagami se une a Tendou para luchar contra los Worm mientras Tendou es perseguido por ZECT por rechazar trabajar para ellos.
In an alternate world to ours, a meteorite fell in Shibuya causing the destruction of this district, from the meteorite come out creatures called "Worm" which can copy the image and memories of people, besides having super-speed. To fight these aliens, the ZECT organization is created, whose main weapon is the Zecters, insect-shaped devices that have a mind of their own and give their chosen users the ability to transform into Kamen Riders and move at high speed. Kagami Arata is a ZECT employee who seeks to be chosen by the Kabuto Zecter, but he chooses Souji Tendou, a civilian who trained all his life to be the perfect man and thus be worthy of the Kabuto Zecter, to transform into Kamen Rider Kabuto. Because of this, Kagami joins Tendou to fight against the Worm while Tendou is persecuted by ZECT for refusing to work for them.
La serie plantea varios conceptos interesantes, a pesar de las primeras impresiones que pueda dar la comedia resulta tener mayor presencia de lo que uno puede esperar, y las interacciones de personajes así como sus conflictos entre Riders hacen la serie bastante entretenida. La trama respecto era decente la verdad, pero con cada giro/revelación que dan en vez de aportar solo cran mas y mas incoherencias, ya sean los Native, personajes que dieron todo su esfuerzo pare ser Riders resultaron estar predestinados, el lado oscuro de ZECT, villanos que van de mediocres a pésimos, etc. Pero eso solo aplica a la trama principal, porque las sub-tramas resultan ser mejores y muy divertidas, sumado el hecho que en estas resaltan la química entre Riders como rivales. Hablando de los Riders, este es un cast raro, a este punto de la saga tenían bien en claros sus clichés entre ellos tener un protagonista bonachón y un secundario que hace de rival a superar, pero aquí todos los Riders (menos Kagami) comparten la egolatría, siendo el protagonista el mas “Chad” de todos y los otros Riders lo intentan superar, lo cual es nuevo pero a la vez extraño ya que todos esperamos que un protagonista tenga desafíos y todo el que tenga dos neuronas funcionales sabe que los Gary Stu son malos personajes, pero eso lo expirare en el siguiente apartado. Si bien la trama principal es un caos por lo menos hubiera tenido una batalla final chévere si la serie hubiera terminado en el penúltimo capitulo, pero faltaban dos y los aprovecharon para hacer que un villano que no hizo nada en toda la serie por fin actuara, pero su arco es bastante débil.
The series raises several interesting concepts, despite the first impressions that may give the comedy turns out to have more presence than one might expect, and character interactions and conflicts between Riders make the series quite entertaining. The plot was actually decent, but with every twist/revelation they give instead of bringing more and more incoherence, be it the Native, characters that gave all their effort to be Riders turned out to be predestined, the dark side of ZECT, villains that go from mediocre to lousy, etc. But that only applies to the main plot, because the subplots turn out to be better and very funny, plus the fact that they highlight the chemistry between Riders as rivals. Talking about the Riders, this is a rare cast, at this point of the saga they had their clichés very clear, among them having a good-natured protagonist and a secondary who is a rival to overcome, but here all the Riders (except Kagami) share the egomania, being the protagonist the most "Chad" of all and the other Riders try to overcome him, which is new but at the same time strange since we all expect a protagonist to have challenges and everyone with two functional neurons knows that the Gary Stu are bad characters, but I will expose that in the next section. While the main plot is a mess at least it would have had a cool final battle if the series had ended in the penultimate chapter, but there were two chapters left and they took advantage of them to make a villain who did nothing in the whole series finally act, but his arc is pretty weak.
Personajes / Characters
Tendou es un protagonista atípico, es algo así como la “deconstrucción” del Gary Stu, es apuesto, calmado, talentoso cocinero y como Kamen Rider Kabuto es casi invencible ¿ya mencione apuesto?, pero el no posee esa simpatía y moral intachable típica de este arquetipo, las únicas personas que trata bien es a su familia porque con los demás es un arrogante, presumido, y hasta maquiavélico; que pone en su lugar al quien se crea mejor que el. Estas cosas deberían hacerlo insoportable, la serie nos da a entender que es una sátira a este arquetipo, es su chiste, y eso lo hace auténticamente genial, pero un personaje así funciona mas como rival o mentor, no como protagonista. Lo único por lo que luchara por poder superarse es en la cocina habiendo muchos que lo superaran en este ámbito e incluso un capítulo dedicado a competencias, lo que enfatiza mi argumento de que las sub-tramas son mejores, pero nos quedamos con las ganas de ver una búsqueda de superación así en un conflicto mas relevante para la trama, por que esto sigue siendo una serie de acción, no de cocina. Si bien trama a Kagami al principio como un ser inferior, la determinación de este le fascina hasta que empieza a considerarlo un igual y en el final se podría decir que se volvieron amigos... casi
Tendou is an atypical protagonist, he is something like the "deconstruction" of Gary Stu, he is handsome, calm, talented cook and like Kamen Rider Kabuto is almost invincible, did I mention he is handsome, but he does not have the sympathy and impeccable morals typical of this archetype, the only people he treats well is his family because with others he is arrogant, conceited, and even Machiavellian; he puts in his place anyone who thinks he is better than him. These things should make him unbearable, the series gives us to understand that it is a satire to this archetype, it is its joke, and that makes it authentically great, but such a character works more as a rival or mentor, not as a protagonist. The only thing he will struggle to excel in is cooking, having many who will surpass him in this area and even a chapter dedicated to competitions, which emphasizes my argument that the sub-plots are better, but we are left wanting to see such a quest for self-improvement in a conflict more relevant to the plot, because this is still an action series, not a cooking one. While he treats Kagami as an inferior being at first, Kagami's determination fascinates him until he begins to consider him an equal and in the end you could say they became friends... almost
Si Tendou es un chiste pero una meta a superar, eso hace a Kagami el verdadero protagonista aquí. Y es que su personalidad bonachona, debilidades, la búsqueda por salvar la humanidad, ser subestimado gente más genial que el; lo harían en otras instancias el protagonista típico, y es que si un cliché no esta roto ¿para que arreglarlo? bueno... si por arreglar entienden por poner a un Gary Stu de prota. Kagami el único que busca la superación personal para una meta altruista y no solo es pura envidia como los demás. Tiene un buen desarrollo, y todo su esfuerzo se ve recompensado en el capitulo mas épico de la serie.
If Tendou is a joke but a goal to overcome, that makes Kagami the real protagonist here. And his good-natured personality, weaknesses, the quest to save humanity, being underestimated by people cooler than him; would make him in other instances the typical protagonist, and if a cliché is not broken, why fix it? well... if by fix you mean to put a Gary Stu as the main character. Kagami is the only one who seeks self-improvement for an altruistic goal and is not just pure envy like the others. He has a good development, and all his effort is rewarded in the most epic chapter of the series.
Daisuke / Kamen Rider Drake es un maquillista mujeriego que siempre anda acompañado de una niña con amnesia a la que llama Gon, la verdad es que los 2 se siente que sobran, solo resaltan cuando les dedican episodios totalmente a ellos, y porque su relación casi fraternal te puede ser bonita.
Daisuke / Kamen Rider Drake is a womanizing makeup artist who is always accompanied by a girl with amnesia whom he calls Gon, the truth is that the 2 feel that they are superfluous, they only stand out when episodes are dedicated entirely to them, and because their almost brotherly relationship can be nice.
Tsurugi / Kamen Rider Sasword empieza como otro ególatra virtuoso, pero que al ser de una familia de nobles no entiende como es la vida real y su intento por ser una persona normal de clase media y el enamorarse de una agente de ZECT lo transforma de un sujeto super desagradable a uno gracioso y ocurrente, pero no todo son risas, tiene un giro bien tétrico sobre la muerte de su hermana que es ver para creer.
Tsurugi / Kamen Rider Sasword starts as another virtuous egomaniac, but being from a noble family he does not understand how real life is and his attempt to be a normal middle class person and falling in love with a ZECT agent transforms him from a super unpleasant guy to a funny and witty one, but not everything is laughter, he has a very dark twist about the death of his sister that is seeing is believing.
Yaguruma y Shun fueron Kamen Rider Thebee y fieles soldados de ZECT, eran unos pretenciosos mezquinos que odian a Tendou y buscaban estar a su altura. Su forma de ser les costo el ser dignos de Thebee Zecter, terminando en un cambio total de personalidad a unos emos que buscan venganza.
Yaguruma and Shun were Kamen Rider Thebee and loyal ZECT soldiers, they were pretentious meanies who hated Tendou and sought to live up to him. Their way of being cost them the dignity of Thebee Zecter, ending in a total change of personality to revenge-seeking emos.
La verdad es que no hay mucho de que hablar de los personajes no Riders. Hiyori es amiga Tendou y hace platillos envidiables para el, su personalidad es… nula, es tan seria y retraída que no puedes empatizar con ella volviéndose el personaje mas insípido que e visto. Yuzuki y Shuichi son agentes de ZECT que trabajan con Kagami, los cuales no tardan en cuestionar las acciones de ZECT, Yuzuki termina por tener más apariciones cómicas sus interacciones con su compañero y por volverse el interés amoroso de Tsurugi. Breve mención a la abuela de Tendou quien nunca veremos pero sus frases siempre estarán con su nieto y en nuestros corazones.
The truth is that there is not much to talk about the non-Riders characters. Hiyori is Tendou's friend and makes enviable dishes for him, her personality is... null, she's so serious and withdrawn that you can't empathize with her, becoming the most insipid character I've ever seen. Yuzuki and Shuichi are ZECT agents working with Kagami, both of whom soon question ZECT's actions, Yuzuki ends up having more comic appearances his interactions with his partner and becoming Tsurugi's love interest. Brief mention to Tendou's grandmother who we will never see but her phrases will always be with her grandson and in our hearts.
Apartado visual / Visual Section
Al transformarse comienzan con una armadura pesada algo feas en las que sus ataques son básicos, pero luego se desprenden de esta y revelan su verdadera forma que les permite moverse a una velocidad sobrehumana, estas formas tienen buen diseño dignos de película con sus colores metálicos que combinados con lo brillante de sus ojos son espectaculares. Y lo mismo se puede decir de las peleas a alta velocidad en donde el tiempo a su alrededor se ralentiza usando efectos que hasta el día de hoy se ven bien. Lo único que puedo decir en contra es la iluminación, y la forma final de Kabuto esta sobrecargada.
When they transform they start with a somewhat ugly heavy armor in which their attacks are basic,but then they shed this and reveal their true form that allows them to move at superhuman speed, these forms have good design worthy of film with its metallic colors combined with the brightness of their eyes are spectacular. And the same can be said of the high speed fights where the time around them slows down using effects that to this day look good. The only thing I can say against it is the lighting, and Kabuto's final form is overloaded.

En conclusión / In conclusion
Kamen Rider Kabuto que se disfruta más que nada por la acción y los personajes peculiares, no diría que debería ser pura comedia o acción descerebrada porque hay ciertos dramas personales que son joyitas rescatables. Por esto se merece un 6,7 de 10.
Kamen Rider Kabuto is enjoyable mostly because of the action and the peculiar characters, I wouldn't say it should be pure comedy or mindless action because there are some personal dramas that are redeemable gems. For this it deserves a 6.7 out of 10.
