Hello, fellow otakus. Today, I'm here to share with you my impressions of the recently released Shingeki no Kyojin special. I'm going to talk about everything that happened in the chapter special, so expect a bit (a lot) of spoilers, although I know most of you here have probably already seen it and if you haven't, what are you waiting for to do it?.
I must say that I normally don't like to talk about single chapters but full seasons, but aha, it's Shingeki, and we all know what happened with the final season and how it's been stretched and delayed to no end. So, since the conclusion of the series is many months away, I'll talk about part 15605 of this last season. Let's get to it.

PREVIEW
After realizing that his people will never be accepted by the rest of the world and that many were still unwilling to stop seeing them as monsters, Eren decides to betray all of his "allies" and set his genocidal plan in motion. Believing that this is the only way to protect the island of Paradis and the Eldians who inhabit it. Thus, against all odds (aha), Eren manages to start the rumble, which begins his day of vengeance parade. Meanwhile, his former comrades and the entire world search for a way to stop the imminent destruction of humanity.
THE RUMBLING
Nothing like a good dose of destruction and death to start a new batch of Shingeki episodes. As we're used to, they have no qualms about showing the overwhelming power of the titans, so as an opener we see them crushing everything and everyone in their path. The first few minutes are truly distressing, there are people running desperately trying to escape their inevitable death, this part reminded me of the beginnings of the series, where people died without rhyme or reason. As everything is destroyed, we are shown Eren's memories and thoughts, the ones that led him to decide to wipe out the entire world.
Can anyone blame Eren for going mad and wanting to kill them all? I clearly don't. It's not that I support genocide, but I can understand the character's desperation and his desire to take revenge for the suffering and misfortune the world put them through. If we go back to the first seasons of Shingeki, we remember how everyone in Paradis suffered the consequences of the attack of the colossal titan, the battleship and the female titan, now it's the turn to feel the threat of the titans to those on the outside, something that Eren is handling quite well.
One of the things I enjoyed most about this special were the moments where Eren connects with all of his "memories" as he moves forward transformed into the founding titan. To many it might seem that he simply became the villain of the story. However, through these journeys into Eren's mind we get a sense of the character's inner conflict and that, despite all the destruction he is causing, there is a lot of suffering and even some remorse for what he is doing.
Alongside the riding of the titans, we see how the few remaining members of Paradis' "legions" and some of Marley's Eldians begin to prepare to confront the founding titan and try to stop the rumbling advance. This was the most emotional part of all for me, seeing Levi, Hange and the others again is always great. There was one thing I didn't quite like though, and that's that at the point the story is at it seems rather worn out to me the argument of wanting to "negotiate" instead of taking a bit more risky action. I'm sure if the founding titan was someone else instead of Eren, neither Mikasa nor Armin would be that interested in convincing him to stop the Rumble, talk about cronyism, right?
When it was finally time for the farewells, that is, the time for the departure of the retinue that would be in charge of confronting the founding titan, we had the return (that absolutely nobody asked for) of our least favourite character of all: Floch, who of course had to come to screw everything up, as usual. I don't know if he, Gabi or Yelena are the ones I like the worst at the moment, but the fact is that, with his fabulous intervention, he delays the departure of our heroes, to the point where they are almost hit by the titan stampede, originating one of the most emotionally painful scenes of the whole series. Yes, I'm talking about THAT death.
We know that within a fandom it's normal that we don't all like the same characters, it's understandable that we don't all have the same tastes. That said, I'm pretty sure we all loved Hange. He won many of us over with his weirdness and his unhealthy obsession with titans, so it was inevitable for me to talk about how epic his last minutes in the series were. From the moment of her goodbye with Levi, to the moment we see her flying through a crowd of titans, Hange's ending is simply spectacular and at the same time painful.
It was one of the coolest goodbyes of the whole series, watching her enjoy (like a real madwoman) contemplating the titans on the wall so closely, priceless. Although it was a cruel way to die (which Armin must have felt very identified with), she definitely showed why she was the Commander of the Scout Corps. And the scene afterwards, a BEAUTY. I didn't cry because I was too shocked and didn't even know what was going on, but it was definitely one of the most touching things in the whole series, 9/10. It would have been a 10 if they had passed Sasha well.
SINNERS
Heartbroken I continued watching the second part of the special, although honestly, I couldn't concentrate too much, after all my second favourite character had just been incinerated to death. From the beginning of this second part, I just remember the same old idiots trying to convince an Eren who just put them in their place, making it clear that he doesn't negotiate with anyone, zero tolerance from our favourite genocidal guy. Again, can anyone blame him, after all the Marleyans applied the same intolerance to them. Don't get me wrong, I do feel bad about all the destruction and deaths of innocents, I'm not that cruel, but it's obvious that so much oppression was bound to have consequences sooner or later.
We see how little by little the humans' hopes are fading as they realise that their latest weapons equipment is not able to do anything to the titans. In the face of their imminent destruction, a slight sign of repentance is born from the Marleyans who are still alive, in the end it only took the destruction of almost their entire nation for them to realise that they had been unfair to the Eldians by discriminating against them and confining them to an island. It was good riddance to enlightenment, but then again, better late than never.
Alongside this there is a subplot with Annie, Falco and Gabi, but as I loathe the latter, I'll just ignore it and move on to the best part, the battle against the founding titan. While humanity defends itself with airships, thinking that in the air they could not be affected by the march of the titans (aha), Eren counterattacks making use of the beast titan, who with his launches destroys practically all the ships, making a fool of, once again, the attempts to stop the destruction that Eren has prepared for them. At this point I did feel a little sorry for them, at the end of the day the same thing happens as in all wars, a lot of innocent people end up being victims of the decisions of the most "powerful".
When all seems lost for humanity, our heroes arrive, totally determined to stop the rumble. The moment Levi sees the beast titan is unparalleled, in that instant we know that an epic battle is about to begin. But since this is Shingeki no Kyojin, that's as far as the story goes. Yes, the MAPPA guys are real bastards and they keep on giving us the denouement in dribs and drabs. I'll never understand the need to release this "special" and then make us wait until the autumn season to know the outcome of the story. You know that those of us who are hooked on the series will see it through to the end, whatever they do, I don't understand why make us suffer in this way.
As you can see, the special was a bit busy, a lot of interesting things happened and there was just enough action to keep us on our toes to see what was going on. I can't say I didn't like it, however, it left me with a bit of a bitter feeling, between Hange's death and having to wait a few more months for the season to finally conclude, I think I would have preferred not to have this special and watch it all together in the fall.
Despite how much they're dragging out this final season, I feel like they're doing their best to deliver a great denouement, I mean, the animation is beautiful, the music is beautiful and the story is going the same way. So it's a matter of patience and waiting a few months to find out how it will end, will it be different from the manga or will they give them the same ending?
¿Los capítulos finales? | Shingeki no Kyojin
Hola, amigos friki-otakus. Hoy vengo a compartir con ustedes mis impresiones sobre el especial que recientemente se estrenó de Shingeki no Kyojin. Voy a hablar de todo lo que pasó en el capítulo especial, así que esperen un poco (muchos) spoilers, aunque sé que la mayoría de aquí seguro ya lo vieron y si no, ¿qué esperan?. Debo decir que a mí normalmente no me gusta hablar de capítulos sueltos sino de temporadas completas, pero ajá, es Shingeki y todos sabemos lo que ha pasado con la temporada final y como lo han estirado y retrasado hasta más no poder.
Así que, en vista de que faltan muchos meses para la conclusión de la serie, hablaré de la parte 15605 de esta última temporada. Vamos a ello.
PREVIAMENTE
Después de darse cuenta de que su gente jamás será aceptada por el resto del mundo y de que muchos aún no estaban dispuestos a dejarlos de ver como monstruos, Eren decide traicionar a todos sus “aliados” y poner en marcha su plan genocida. Creyendo que esa es la única manera de proteger a la isla de Paradis y a los eldianos que la habitan. Es así como contra todo pronóstico (ajá), Eren logra comenzar con el retumbar, el cual da inicio a su desfile del día de la venganza. Mientras tanto, sus excompañeros y el mundo entero buscan la manera de detener la inminente destrucción de la humanidad.
EL RETUMBAR
Nada como una buena dosis de destrucción y muerte para comenzar una nueva tanda de episodios de Shingeki. Como ya nos tienen acostumbrados, no tienen reparo en mostrar el poder avasallante de los titanes, así que como abrebocas vemos a estos aplastando todo y a todos a su paso. Los primeros minutos son verdaderamente angustiantes, hay gente corriendo desesperada intentando escapar de su inevitable muerte, esta parte me hizo recordar a los inicios de la serie, donde la gente se moría sin ton ni son. Mientras todo es destruido, se nos muestran los recuerdos y pensamientos de Eren, esos que lo llevaron a decidir arrasar con el mundo entero.
¿Puede alguien culpar a Eren por volverse loco y querer matarlos a todos? Yo claramente no lo hago. No es que apoye el genocidio, pero puedo entender la desesperación del personaje y sus ganas de querer vengarse por el sufrimiento y las desgracias que el mundo los hizo pasar. Si nos remontamos a las primeras temporadas de Shingeki, recordaremos como todos en Paradis sufrieron las consecuencias del ataque del titán colosal, del acorazado y de la titán hembra, ahora es el turno de sentir la amenaza de los titanes para los del exterior, algo de lo que Eren se está encargando bastante bien.
Una de las cosas que más me gustó de este especial fueron los momentos en los que Eren se conecta con todos sus “recuerdos”, mientras va avanzando transformado en el titán fundador. A muchos podría parecerles que simplemente se convirtió en el villano de la historia. Sin embargo, mediante esos viajes dentro de la mente de Eren podemos darnos cuenta del conflicto interno del personaje y de que, a pesar de toda la destrucción que está ocasionando, hay mucho sufrimiento e incluso algo de remordimiento por lo que está haciendo.
A la par de la cabalgata de los titanes, vemos como los pocos miembros que quedan de las “legiones” de Paradis y algunos de los eldianos de Marley comienzan a prepararse para enfrentar al titán fundador e intentar detener el avance el retumbar. Esta fue la parte más emotiva de todas para mí, volver a ver a Levi, Hange y a los demás siempre es genial. Aunque hubo algo que no me gustó del todo, y es que en el punto en el que está la historia me parece bastante gastado el argumento de querer “negociar” en lugar de tomar acciones un poco más arriesgadas. Estoy segura de que si el titán fundador fuera alguien más en lugar de Eren, ni Mikasa ni Armin estarían tan interesados en convencerlo de parar el Retumbar, hablando de amiguismos, ¿no?.
Cuando por fin llegó el momento de las despedidas, es decir, la hora en la que partirían los de la comitiva que se encargaría de enfrentar al titán fundador, tuvimos el regreso (que absolutamente nadie pidió) de nuestro personaje menos favorito de todos: Floch, quien por supuesto tenía que llegar a fastidiarlo todo, como siempre. No sé si él, Gabi o Yelena son los que peor me caen en este momento, pero el caso es que, con su fabulosa intervención, retrasa la salida de nuestros héroes, hasta el punto en el que estos son casi alcanzados por la estampida de titanes, originando una de las escenas más emotivamente dolorosas de toda la serie. Sí, estoy hablando de ESA muerte.
Sabemos que dentro de un fandom lo normal es que no a todos nos agraden los mismos personajes, es entendible que no todos tengamos los mismos gustos. Dicho eso, estoy prácticamente segura de que todos amábamos a Hange. A muchos nos ganó con su rareza y con su insana obsesión con los titanes, así que era inevitable para mí hablar de lo épicos que fueron sus últimos minutos en la serie. Desde el momento de su adiós con Levi, hasta que la vemos volar entre una multitud de titanes, el final de Hange es sencillamente espectacular y a la vez doloroso.
Ha sido una de las despedidas más geniales de toda la serie, verla disfrutar (como una verdadera loca) al contemplar a los titanes del muro tan de cerca, no tiene precio. Aunque fue una forma un poco cruel de morir (con la que Armin debió sentirse muy identificado), definitivamente demostró porque era la Comandante del Cuerpo de Exploración. ¿Y la escena posterior?, una BELLEZA. No lloré porque estaba demasiado impactada y no sabía ni qué estaba pasando, pero sin duda fue una de las cosas más conmovedoras de toda la serie, 9/10. Hubiera sido un 10 si hubieran pasado bien a Sasha.
Los infractores
Con el corazón roto seguí viendo la segunda parte del especial, aunque honestamente, no me pude concentrar demasiado, después de todo mi segundo personaje favorito acababa de morir incinerada. Del principio de esta segunda parte, solo recuerdo a los mismos idiotas de siempre intentando convencer a un Eren que solamente los puso en su lugar, dejándoles en claro que él no negocia con nadie, tolerancia cero de parte de nuestro genocida favorito. De nuevo, ¿alguien lo puede culpar?, después de todo los marleyanos les aplicaron la misma intolerancia a ellos. No me malentiendan, sí me siento mal por toda la destrucción y las muertes de inocentes, no soy tan cruel, pero es obvio que tanta opresión tarde o temprano iba a traer consecuencias.
Vemos cómo poco a poco las esperanzas de los humanos se van desvaneciendo al darse cuenta de que sus últimos equipos de armamento no logran hacerle nada a los titanes. Ante su inminente destrucción nace una ligera señal de arrepentimiento por parte de los marleyanos que aún quedan con vida, al final solo hizo falta la destrucción de casi toda su nación, para que se dieran cuenta de que habían sido injustos con los eldianos al discriminarlos y confinarlos a una isla. A buena hora les llegó la iluminación, pero bueno, más vale tarde que nunca.
A la par de esto existe una subtrama con Annie, Falco y Gabi, pero como detesto a esta última, simplemente la ignoraré y pasaré a la mejor parte, la batalla contra el titán fundador. Mientras la humanidad se defiende con dirigibles, pensando que en el aire no los podrían afectar la marcha de los titanes (ajá), Eren contraataca haciendo uso del titán bestia, quien con sus lanzamientos destruye prácticamente a todas las naves, dejando en ridículo, una vez más, los intentos de detener la destrucción de que Eren les tiene preparada.
En este punto sí sentí un poco de penita por ellos, a final de cuentas pasa lo mismo que en todas las guerras, un montón de inocentes terminan siendo víctimas de las decisiones de los más “poderosos”.
Cuando todo parece perdido para la humanidad, llegan nuestros héroes totalmente decididos a detener el Retumbar. El momento en el que Levi ve al titán bestia no tiene igual, en ese instante sabemos que una batalla épica está a punto de comenzar. Pero como esto es Shingeki no Kyojin, hasta ahí llega la historia. Sí, los de MAPPA son unos verdaderos desgraciados y no paran de soltarnos el desenlace a cuenta gotas. Jamás entenderé cuál fue la necesidad de sacar este “especial” para luego hacernos esperar hasta la temporada de otoño para conocer el desenlace de la historia. Ya saben que los que estamos enganchados con la serie la veremos hasta el final, hagan lo que hagan, no entiendo por qué hacernos sufrir de esta manera.
Como pueden ver, el especial estuvo algo movido, pasaron varias cosas interesantes y hubo la suficiente acción para mantenernos atentos a lo que estaba pasando. No puedo decir que no me gustó, sin embargo, me dejó una sensación algo amarga, entre la muerte de Hange y el tener que esperar unos cuantos meses más para que la temporada finalmente concluya, creo que hubiera preferido no tener este especial y ver todo junto en otoño.
A pesar de lo mucho que están alargando esta temporada final, siento que están haciendo todo lo posible por entregarnos un gran desenlace, digo, la animación es una belleza, la música también y la historia va por el mismo camino. Así que es cuestión de paciencia y de esperar unos cuantos meses para saber cómo terminará todo, ¿sí será diferente al manga o les darán el mismo final?.
