I am simoney and I live in the city of Cantaura Anzoategui state - Venezuela.
Although it is the first time I post in this community, since I came to Hive I have always visited because I like crafts and confections. But for lack of practice and even lack of knowledge, such as being able to identify the fabrics, I had never dared to post something.
I have a machine that a grandmother gave me as a gift, she used it a lot in her time but because her eyesight is failing now she doesn't use it, that's why she offered it to me.
So, I have made other things like cushions to practice but I had not dared to make a more complicated elaboration.
Still, I always watch tutorials on internet sites and also check out her block.
They say there's a first time for everything.
My chance came and I dared.
I was given a purse that although it had a somewhat unique material, I didn't like its design at all. Even so, I received it so as not to despise the person who offered it to me, but, from that moment I began to think about transforming it with a more modern and comfortable design.
So I transformed this wallet into this bandit.

Soy simoney y vivo en la ciudad de Cantaura estado Anzoategui - Venezuela.
Aunque es la primera vez que público en esta comunidad, desde que llegué a Hive siempre los he visitado porque me gustan las manualidades y confecciones. Pero por falta de práctica y hasta de conocimiento, como por ejemplo, poder identificar las telas, nunca me había atrevido a postear algo.
Tengo una máquina que me regaló una abuelita, ella la usó mucho en su tiempo pero debido a que ahora le falla la vista no la usa, por eso me la ofreció.
Así que, he realizado otras cosas como cojines para practicar pero no me había atrevido a hacer una elaboración un poco más complicada.
Aún así, siempre veo tutoriales en sitios de internet y también revisó sus block.
Dicen por ahí que para todo hay una primera vez.
Llegó mi oportunidad y me atreví.
Me regalaron una cartera que aunque tenía un material un poco singular no me gustaba para nada su diseño. Aún así, la recibí para no despreciar a la persona que me la ofreció, pero, desde ese momento comencé a pensar en transformarla con un diseño más moderno y cómodo.
Así que transformé esta cartera, en este bandolero.
I show you the steps I used.
The first thing I did was to completely disassemble the wallet, very carefully so that I could take advantage of all the material possible.
After watching a tutorial and taking notes of the measurements, I took the pieces with the help of a cup lid, a ruler and a tape measure. I took out all the pieces twice to make the forum as well.
And then I started to sew, I was very excited so that night I sewed until 02:30 a.m. 😄😄
The materials
- The material of the wallet.
(Which is like a velvet quite marked) - 60 cm of fabric for the lining.
- Scissors.
- Tape measure.
- Zipper.
- Black thread.
- Hardware or ring for the shoulder strap.
Measurements
- The circles measure 20 cm each.
- The rectangles measure 36 ×10 and 36×11 cm.
(the 36 x 11 will be used for the zipper). - Pieces for the hardware measure 6 long x 3 wide.
- Bias tape measures 5 cm wide.
Les muestro los pasos que usé
Lo primero que hice fue desarmar por completo la cartera, con mucho cuidado para poder aprovechar todo el material posible.
Luego de ver un tutorial y tomar notas de las medidas, saqué las piezas con la ayuda de una tapa de taza de cocina, una regla y una cinta métrica. Saqué todas las piezas por partida doble para realizar también el foro.
Y a continuación comencé armar, estaba emocionadísima así que esa noche cosí hasta las 02:30 a.m. 😄😄
Los materiales
• - El material de la cartera.
(Que es como un terciopelo bastante marcado)
• - 60 cm de tela para el forro.
• - Tijera.
• - Cinta métrica.
• - Cierre o Cremallera.
• - Hilo negro.
• - Herraje o Argolla para el tirante.
Las medidas
• - Los Círculos miden 20 cm c/u.
• - Los rectángulos miden 36 ×10 y 36×11 cm.
(el de 36 x 11 lo usaremos para la cremallera)
• - Piezas para los herrajes miden 6 largo x 3 de ancho.
• - Cinta para el sesgo mide 5 cm de ancho.
The first thing I put together was the zipper part. Placing the lining at once. The rectangle measuring 11 x 36 I cut it in half, leaving two rectangles of 5.5 x 36. I faced the right sides of the fabrics and in the middle I placed the zipper and sewed the seam. Then I finished off the top.
Lo primero que arme fue la parte que lleva la cremallera . Colocando de una vez el forro. El rectángulo que mide 11 x 36 lo corté por la mitad quedando dos rectángulo de 5.5 x 36. Enfrente los lados derechos de las telas y en el medio coloque la cremallera y pasé la costura. Luego rematé por la parte de encima.
Then I assembled the pieces of the strap ring, leaving it one centimeter wide with the same 6 centimeters long, I put it in the ring and then sewed it by putting the ring facing inwards.
Luego pase armar las piezas del herraje o argolla del tirante dejándola con un centímetro de ancho con los mismos 6 de largo , la metí en argolla y luego cosí poniendo la argolla mirando hacia adentro.
Then I cut the excess zipper that I had on the edges and joined the other rectangle, after having done the same procedure to place the lining. I placed bias binding on both edges and the circumference was ready.
Ya luego corté el exceso de cremallera que tenía en los bordes y uní al otro rectángulo, luego de haberle hecho el mismo procedimiento de colocar el forro. Coloque sesgo en los dos bordes y quedó lista la circunferencia.
Then assemble the circular piece by placing a lining and a semi-plastic interlining to make it firm.
Also place a badge as an ornament.
Luego arme la pieza circular colocándole forro y una entretela semi plástica para que quede firme.
También coloque una insignia como adorno.
Then I assembled the bias tape by folding at least one centimeter on each side and ironing.
And I sewed all around to cover the seams.
Ya luego arme la cinta del sesgo doblando al menos un centímetro de cada lado y planchando .
Y cosí por todo alrededor para tapar las costuras.
For the strap I used a semi-leather ribbon that I folded and sewed until it was one centimeter wide.
As the print of the fabric has black and red I wanted to combine the strap also with red semi leather that was left over from the previous purse.
And then I placed a brooch right in the middle of the two colors.
Para el tirante usé una cinta de semicuero que doble y cosí hasta quedar de un centímetro de ancho.
Como el estampado de la tela tiene negro y rojo quise combinar el tirante también con semicuero rojo que quedó de la cartera anterior.
Y luego coloque un broche justo en medio de los dos colores.
