My Sewing Journey 🥰

Hello Hivers 😊,
Today I created a masterpiece, I'm literally the happiest person right now. Before I go on I just want to say that contrary to what anyone would say, determination is the fuel that drives you to success.

I have always been passionate about anything fashion, so I thought to myself, even though I was already into decorating and styling outfits, why don't I learn how to sew, it would be really great. There were so many challenges at that time, ranging from time constraints, finances and other underlying factors because I was a student and it wasn't going to be easy to balance everything but I decided it wasn't going to stop me, so I started watching series of YouTube tutorials oh how to sew, I was so fortunate because there was an old Sewing machine just laying in the house but it still works so it was easy to practice.

I decided I wanted to do this and I gave my all, it wasn't easy staying up most nights trying to figure things out, watching tutorials and practicing alongside. I'm not going to lie, I was discouraged at some point, I started feeling like this wasn't good enough, like I wasn't going to be as good as people that actually paid physical professionals to teach them.
I suffered self doubt for a while, but I didn't stop totally but my story changed when I came across a lady on Facebook who shared her story and how she started from YouTube and now she sews professionally and she's always sort after by alot of people and honestly it motivated me, just like a tiny stick of match Stick to gasoline I was fired up.

One of the lesson I learnt from my journey was patience, I need to be patient with myself in order to grow efficiently, I learnt that determination is the vital ingredient of achieving anything in life.
Even though I struggle a little with consistency, I hope I find all the motivation I need everyday to keep pushing and making a difference in my life. I just want to focus on the good things, stay positive, do great things and motivate others to do something they're passionate about without wallowing in excuses.

Items Used for the Making of this Outfit:

The Making Process:
The fabrics I choose to use is an African made fabric usually called "Ankara", I choose to use two different fabrics because I wanted my outfit to be stylish and colorful.

I started with the skirt because it is easier to sew and won't take so much time. I folded my fabric into two equal parts and then with my tape I measured my hip, waist and length of skirt, then I cut it out. I went ahead to place what I had just cut of on another folded fabric and with 2 inches allowance I cut out the second part of the skirt so I had two parts, the front and back.

I divided the back part of my skirt into two and then I added a zip to join them together. I went ahead to join both the front and back sides of my skirt together, then I made four long tiny ropes from my fabric to create a raunched effect at both sides of my skirt.

For my blouse, I used the brown fabric, I first measured my shoulder, burst, width and the length I wanted then I folded my fabric into two and cut out the front part of my blouse, I did the penguin effect for the front part but the back part was straight and short.

I used all the patterns I have cut out to also cut out my inner lining. For the back part of my blouse, I cut it into two and joined them with my zip. I did the same thing for the front part of my blouse.

For my sleeves, I used the elastic bands in three different areas to beautiful it, then I joined it to the body of the blouse.
I marked out spots to but the ropes behind, then I made two long ropes from my fabric, and also made tiny holders on the blouse for the ropes.
