Happy blessed day to you all, how are you and your business, i hope you all are doing perfectly fine, what a wonderful and beautiful day, feels with joy and happiness, nice to meet again this week to share our work, ideas, tips, pattern and shortcut, I'm so excited today for being able to share with you all on the step by step on how i cut and sew a beautiful gown for my baby girl.
It been a long time now i haven't sewn a gown dress for my baby girl, i wanted something to wear her to church last Sunday, i went through her cabinet drawer to search for her gown dress that i sewn for her bit non of them fit her, some came out very short and some that happens to fit her came out very tight and i didn't have much time to adjust for her, i felt so bad, imagine me a seamstress and I'm looking for a clothes to wear my baby, the only reason i felt so relectant sewing a dress for her is that i wanted her to walk by herself very well, i know i have been sewing a lot of dress for her without doing not be fitting her again so soon, so i promise to make her a new dress.
what i discovered is that making a baby's clothes is not just like an adult one, especially turning with lining, i feel so excited when ever i made dress for my baby, now that she had walked, all the dress i made for her during the time she did not walk look so beautiful on her now that she walks but they looks short on her now, what makes me feel exited now is that she have walk and all the clothes clothes i will sew for her will comes out beautiful and people will see my work properly, A good Fashion designer needs to fashion her home before outside..
So i remember i had a remaining fabric and it was a Traditional marriage uniform then i decided to start with to make something beautiful for my baby.
I started by folding the fabric by two, i measured out her full length by offing the shouder, i measured her body divided by two, and i took the ham hole length and cut it out.
After that i use black bias and bind the ham hole inside.
Then i moved on after binding the hamhale and cut out the fabric by 25inches leng then 4 and the half inches width for the dress hem gathers.
After cutting it out i went to the sewing machine and stiches the gathers.
After stitches i went ahead and cut out the neck turning pleatings inform of flair cutting by 4 inches length.
Then i pleaced it on the fabric and cut out another one for the back side.
After that i placed the two flair on the fabric again and turned them round.
So after turning them i went and turned them inside of the neck to outside the neck dress, then i double stitches them and used the bias and turned the gathers hem.
After turning the neck I now joined the body together.
Then i used the sequence bias and fixed a single sleeves hand.
After fixing the single sleeveless hand I discover that it will not look nice for her to wear to church, I Know she's a kid but i don't like the hand, so i was thinking on a kind of sleeves style to give to her so i used the remaining flair that i pleat on the neck and fixed in the sleeves and it comes out so nicely, which i did not even expect it will.
So i now used the black bias and turned out the upper flair for the shoulder to look nice.
Then i fixed it on the dress.
After everything i discovered the neck will not be so free on her head so i folded the body together to have the center of the back side then i slit down the center to the length i want and sew it very slant like dart so i put in a zip very property.
So here is the outcome of the baby dress.
