I think second chances are important to everyone and everything. Well, this is one of my main mottos in terms of life and sewing since I am in charge of applying it in either of those two areas. I always try to choose scraps of fabric for my projects and when something goes wrong I just don't give up and try to find the way around it anyway to get a good result. This was exactly what happened with the project that I want to share with you today on this Monday of needle work ❤️.
Pienso que las segundas oportunidades son importantes para todos y todo. Bien, esta es uno de mis lemas principales en cuanto a la vida y a la costura ya que me encargo de aplicarlo en cualquiera de esos dos ámbitos. Siempre intento elegir retazos de tela para mis proyectos y cuando algo me sale mal, simplemente no me rindo y de todos modos intento encontrarle la vuelta para obtener un buen resultado. Esto fue exactamente lo que pasó con el proyecto que quiero compartir con ustedes hoy en este lunes de trabajo de agujas ❤️.
Maybe some of you remember (or maybe not 😂) an experimental lingerie project I did a while ago . At the time I was trying to sew a panty, but stopped to practice techniques to get a neater stretch. After trying split elastic with different stitches, straight and zigzag, my poor project was that monstrous.
Quizás algunos recuerden (o tal vez no 😂) un proyecto experimental de lencería que hice un tiempo atrás. En ese momento estaba intentando coser una panty pero me detuve a practicar técnicas para obtener un elastizado más prolijo. Luego de intentar elástico partido con diferentes puntadas, recta y zigzag, mi pobre proyecto había quedado así de monstruoso.
I admit that after that project I was quite frustrated and just put it aside. I continued with other things but I was sorry to have wasted that beautiful lace so this morning I took the trouble to undo all the badly sewn elastic to recover the fabric. This took me over half an hour, especially the part with the straight seams as they were super small.
Admito que después de ese proyecto quedé bastante frustrada y simplemente lo dejé a un lado. Continué con otras cosas pero me daba pena haber desperdiciado ese lindo encaje por lo que esta mañana me tomé el trabajo de descoser toooodo el elástico mal cosido para recuperar la tela. Esto me tomó más de media hora, en especial la parte de las costuras rectas ya que eran súper pequeñas.
This time I said 'ok Laura, let's keep it simple, you don't want to unsew everything again 😂', so I chose the more 'simple' technique to sew the elastic to a panty. This technique consists of supporting the elastic and sewing it over it as it stretches a little. I did it slowly and patiently around the contour of the legs.
Esta vez dije 'ok Laura, vamos a lo sencillo, no querés descoser todo de nuevo 😂', entonces elegí la técnica más 'simple' para coser el elástico a una panty. Esta técnica consiste en apoyar el elástico y coserlo por encima a medida que se estira un poco. Lo hice despacio y con paciencia por todo el contorno de las piernas.
Regarding the waist, on the back I repeated the same procedure but on the front I placed the elastic inside so that it would not be seen from the outside. I always try not to overstretch the elastic at the waist because I don't like tights to squeeze my flesh 😂.
En cuanto a la cintura, en la parte de la espalda repetí el mismo procedimiento pero en la parte del frente coloqué el elástico por dentro para que no se viera desde afuera. Siempre intento no estirar demasiado el elástico de la parte de la cintura porque no me gusta que las pantys me apreten las carnes 😂.
After putting on all the elastics correctly, the garment looked like this in its middle stage 😄.
Después de colocar todos los elásticos correctamente, la prenda lucía así en su etapa intermedia 😄.
The last step is always to close the sides of our panty and we are almost done. To obtain a neater result, what I do is step on the seam of the union with a zigzag stitch. This would be solved with an overlock machine but I still do not have 😂. And after all... this is the end result ❤️!
Eo último paso siempre es cerrar los laterales de nuestra panty y casi terminamos. Para obtener un resultado más prolijo lo que hago es pisar la costura de la unión con una puntada zigzag. Esto se solucionaría con una maquina overlock pero aún no tengo 😂. ¡Y después de todo... este es el resultado final ❤️!
I want to share something else with you, dear readers. I must confess that I cut all this fabric several months ago to 'motivate myself to sew several projects in one day'. Well, the truth is that the days have passed and this did not happen. He actually did it but at a very low rate, at the rate of one garment every two weeks 😂. Because of this, now I am running into the problem that some pantyhose are a bit too small for me: it can be seen that in all these months I have grown a little 🤭.
Quiero compartor algo más con ustedes, queridos lectores. Debo confesarles que toda esta tela la corté hace varios meses ya para 'motivarme a coser varios proyectos en un día'. Bueno, la verdad es que han pasado los días y esto no sucedió. En realidad lo hizo pero a un ritmo muy bajo, a razón de una prenda cada dos semanas 😂. Debido a esto, ahora me estoy encontrando con el problema de que algunas pantys me quedan algo pequeñas: se ve que en todos estos meses he crecido un poco 🤭.
This does not mean that it does not enter them, but that a few more cm on the sides would not hurt 😂. I guess this is what I deserve for all the procrastination. Putting that aside, I'm happy that I got this garment back and that it's now functional instead of hanging around all my drawers. And I'm also glad I finished it because it just makes me happy to know how to sew my own lingerie ❤️.
Esto no quiere decir que no entre en ellas, sino que algunos cm más en los costados no vendrian mal 😂. Supongo que esto es lo que merezco por tanta procrastinación. Poniendo eso de lado, estoy feliz de haber recuperado esta prenda y que ahora sea funcional en lugar de andar dando vueltas por todos mis cajones. Y también me alegra haberla terminado porque simplemente me hace feliz saber coser mi propia lencería ❤️.
