A finales del 2019, vi por YouTube un video explicativo (enlace al final) de cómo tejer a Miraitowa, de "Kniyoys and craft". Días antes, la diseñadora preguntó por sus redes sociales si sabíamos cuál era el personaje. A decir verdad, creí que era Gatomón, del dibujo animado Digimón (1999)…por cierto, tengo agendado tejerlo (si todo sale bien, será para el próximo año).
At the end of 2019, I saw on YouTube an explanatory video (link at the end) of how to knit Miraitowa, from "Kniyoys and craft". Days before, the designer asked on her social networks if we knew what the character was. En el 2020 se manifestó la pandemia, postergando todos los eventos de ese año. No sé si les pasa, que cuando estamos vísperas de los Juegos olímpicos y los mundiales de vóley o fútbol, nos encontramos más motivados. En una publicación pasada, mencioné que Gladys Tejeda y Cristhian Pacheco ganaron la maratón 2019 y eso motivó a todo el país, sobre todo a los otros deportistas quienes también ganaron en sus categorías. Y fue por estas fechas de invierno.
In 2020, the pandemic manifested itself, postponing all the events of that year. I don't know if it happens to you, but when we are on the eve of the Olympic Games and the World Cup in volleyball or football, we find ourselves more motivated. In a previous publication, I mentioned that Gladys Tejeda and Cristhian Pacheco won the 2019 marathon and that motivated the whole country, especially the other athletes who also won in their categories. Siento que este año será algo similar. Y quise compartir con ustedes esta motivación que siento por estos días previos a los Juegos olímpicos Tokio 2021. Estaba leyendo sobre este personaje y me identifico con él. Miraitowa defiende la justicia, es veloz y anda en todos lados y es atleta. Su nombre significa futuro alentador y duradero. Además, está inspirado en un proverbio japonés, este consiste en aprender de la historia y traerlo al presente para generar nuevos conocimientos (la idea es esa).
I feel that this year will be similar. And I wanted to share with you this motivation that I feel in these days before the Tokyo 2021 Olympic Games. I was reading about this character and I identify with him. Miraitowa stands for justice, he is fast and he is everywhere and he is an athlete. His name means encouraging and enduring future. He is also inspired by a Japanese proverb, which is about learning from history and bringing it into the present to generate new knowledge (that's the idea).
El hecho de contar con varios deportistas en distintas categorías ya es un logro histórico para el Perú, porque como en varios países en vías de desarrollo no hay apoyo por parte del Estado. Espero eso cambie para bien, porque el deporte es salud y la salud energía y la energía es vida.
The fact that we have several athletes in different categories is already a historic achievement for Peru, because as in many developing countries there is no support from the state. I hope this will change for the better, because sport is health and health is energy and energy is life.

Dato curioso: En el video explicativo lo tejió con doble hebra (8 hebras) y le queda de 20cm de altura aproximadamente. El que tejí mide 13cm de altura y fue tejido con una sola hebra / In the explanatory video he knitted it with double strand (8 strands) and it is approximately 20cm high.
