There is no harm in trying, don't give up, just do it! | Inspiration gotten from the conical blouse I made.

Hello dear hivers, I feel so excited and inspired to share my recent creative design with you as this is one of the most challenging sewing projects I've worked on in recent times, so my younger sister's birthday is coming up in few weeks time and I thought of the outfit to make for her, already knowing what she loves,

she loves sophisticated outfits with a modest appearance, so I went online hoping to be inspired, indeed I got inspired by an outfit worn by one of the top designers in my country, but the problem was I"ve never attempted making that unique pattern before, it's called a conical corset blouse, I tried searching for an exact pattern online to work with but couldn't find any.

So I had to either give up making the outfit, for the fear of not getting it right, or just go ahead and give it a trial and if I get it, great, if I don't, I will either just give up or try again, also considering the money used in buying the materials, not doing it right means I've only ended up wasting money, especially in this harsh economy, but trust me not to have up so easily, I particularly love challenging myself and learning new things, because that's the only way we open up ourselves to new knowledge.

I studied the style inspiration carefully, and from my previous knowledge in sewing, I was able to successfully draft out the pattern, which is more like a bustier pattern but with an exaggerated hip line and snatched waistline, then it has got an asymmetric shape around the hem of the blouse.

Materials used in making the blouse are;

  • Crepe fabric
  • Boning
  • Zipper
  • Matching coloured thread
  • Stay/interfacing

  • I started by drafting the front and back pattern, and then I transferred it to the main fabric also the lining fabric which would be used in turning the neckline.

  • Next, I ironed the interfacing on the wrong side of both fabrics' patterns, before joining the patterns together.

  • Now, most of the structure work is on the lining fabric, so I sewed in boning to the structured part of the fabric and ironed a peplum stay just around the hip area.

  • continuing, I used the lining to turn the main fabric, then added a zipper at the back of the blouse.

The blouse is supposed to be done but I"'ve got more ideas flooding in to take this two-piece outfit to the next level, I just could"t contain my excitement after successfully getting this right, I guess everything seems hard until we give it a trial, so I'm hoping this post inspires someone out there to Do it! don't give up yet, difficulty/failure is just a facade stopping you from achieving that success.

Loving this look and the ideas flooding in, I don't mind getting more inspiration on how to transform this look by adding more glitters for a birthday shoot, I already drew three circles on the blouse chest, can you guess what I will be adding? What about sleeves idea? If you've got any ideas, I will be pleased to read them, watch out for the final look of this outfit.

Thank you for reading.❤❤
