There are a few items of clothing that were in need of repair. A pair of corduroy pants that were too big and a skirt that was wide and long.
And while I could have simply hemmed and taken in with an invisible mend I decided to include a decorative border from my recent acquisition of ribbons from a very sentimental source.
Most mends must be done by hand. They just don't fit on the sewing machine! Or barely. So what I could sew with the machine I did and the rest I stitched with needle, thread, and handiwork.
Then there was the skirt. Like much office wear, this skirt is knee length and meant for the professional lady.
This skirt is a hand me down from my mom but, as I work from home and don't have any desire to appear professional, I raised the hem line several inches and took the skirt in just a bit too.
After trimming off the excess fabric I and folding it over to create a neat hem I decided to also add a decorative ribbon. My inner biker chick chose the rose pattern trim. Really the trim isn't necessary in any of this and rather just decoration.
And then, I wonder, what is fashion but decoration that sparks joy and inspires happiness?
