A week ago some people saw some bracelets that I have made and immediately ordered me gifts and surprises, among those things they ordered me this multicolored bracelet, which for the person who asked me symbolizes the mountain and the sun characteristic of Caracas. This will be a farewell gift for a young boy who is leaving the country and his mother wants him to take a souvenir of this little piece of paradise that some of us know as Venezuela.
To make this design I didn't have my usual loom but luckily a friend of mine had one of his, a homemade model that although it has its flaws, it worked wonders and helped me to solve the problem away from home.
As the screws were fixed to the main board of the loom, it was necessary to tighten them carefully and at the same time very gently so that the threads would not loosen so much, since at a certain point when disassembling and reaching the ends, the threads start to loosen their pressure and begin to loosen.
Para realizar este diseño no contaba con mi telar de siempre pero por suerte un amigo tenia unos suyo, un modelo casero que si bien tiene sus defectos, me sirvió de maravillas y me ayudo a resolver fuera de casa.
Como los tornillos estaban fijos en la tabla principal del telar, me fue necesario apretar con cuidado y a la vez con mucha suavidad para que los hilos no se destensaran tanto, ya que en cierto punto al desmontar e ir llegando a los extremos, los hilos van soltando su presión y comenzando a soltarse.
As a second step I pass the first line of colors to ensure the alignment of the threads. Working on this loom was quite a challenge, because I started this work weaving on adjustable looms and well, you get used to it. The only difference is that the threads are always going to be quite loose but as you practice, you know how to make sure that you pass the needle through the beads.
Como un segundo paso paso la primera linea de colores para asegurar la alineación de los hilos. Trabajar sobre este telar fue todo un reto, pues les dire que comencé esta labor tejiendo en telares ajustables y bueeeno una se acostumbra. Lo único diferente es que los hilos siempre van a estar bastante sueltos pero a medida que vas practicando, sabes como puedes irte asegurando de que pasaste bien la aguja a través de las mostacillas.
I have mentioned before how I always prefer to start in the middle of the bracelet, as this way I feel I can have more control of the thread I am going to use and the shape my bracelet is going to take.
Another advantage of starting from the center is that you can more easily avoid any mistakes that may occur due to distraction. When we start from the center we have some steps already marked, a guide that will serve us until we finish.
Anteriormente ya he mencionado como siempre prefiero comenzar por la mitad de la pulsera, ya que así siento que puedo tener mas control del hilo que voy a usar y de la forma que mi pulsera va a tener.
Otra ventaja de comenzar desde el centro es que así puedes evitar con mas facilidad cualquier equivocación que pueda suceder producto de la distracción. Cuando iniciamos del centro tenemos unos pasos ya marcados, una guía que nos servirá hasta que finalicemos.
Esta pulsera me puso feliz apenas pude comenzar a ver su patron de colores desarrollándose, que bonito cuando se encuentra esa combinación justa. En el caso de este brazalete justo me encontraba probando por primera vez un hilo que recién compre, como esta un poco grueso el final de la pulsera solo lo pude repasar un par de veces porque a la tercera el hilo no podía salir y corría el riesgo de que se partiera una de las cuentas.
Once finished I can say that the loom did its job and so I could see this beautiful handle finished in just a couple of hours, the only bad thing was that the threads were a little small to make the final braid but as it was still going to be for a child, I did not worry.
Una vez finalizada puedo decir que el telar si cumplió con su cometido y así pude ver esta hermosa manilla acabada en tan solo un par de horas, lo único malo fue que me quedaron un poco pequeños los hilos para hacer la trenza final pero como igual iba a ser para un niño, no me preocupé.
I didn't want to give it away just like that and well, what else was left but to invent a packaging? hahahaha a little bit of extra love.
