A friend visited me while I was sewing and when he saw me working hard on my sewing and all the details he told me, it is looking very nice, but for 3 dollars you can buy one in any store and they are waterproof, to which I replied: yes, you are probably right, but no housewife will feel as special and authentic as me wearing an exclusive apron and to my taste, that's what it's worth, (laughs). I think my answer led him to look at the stains drawn on the bottom of his coffee cup for more than 3 minutes and total silence (that's rare in him), maybe he was thinking about what to argue, but he preferred to leave it at that, or maybe he didn't find what to say, I choose the second option, it feels good to win an argument from time to time. My good friend Victor, we have a lot of patience with each other, that is a fundamental part of a good friendship.

Un amigo me visito mientras cosía y al verme afanada en mi costura y todos los detalles me dijo, está quedando muy bonito, pero por 3 dólares compras uno en cualquier almacén y son impermeables, a lo que respondí: pues si, seguramente tienes razón, pero ninguna ama de casa se sentirá tan especial y auténtica como yo que uso un delantal exclusivo y a mi gusto, eso es lo que vale, (risas). Creo que mi respuesta lo llevó a mirar las manchas dibujadas en el fondo de su taza de café por más de 3 minutos y total silencio (eso es raro en él), quizás pensaba en qué argumentar, pero prefirió dejarlo así, o tal vez no encontró qué decir, yo elijo la segunda opción, se siente bien ganar una discusión de vez en cuando. Mi buen amigo Victor, nos tenemos mucha paciencia, eso es parte fundamental de una buena amistad.

Making an apron is something I wanted to do for a long time, and I confess, I didn't have one in my kitchen because although I could buy one for less than 3 dollars, I wanted to make it myself, and this contest was the perfect occasion to not postpone it any longer and during the weekend I worked exclusively on it because I wanted to have it ready for today, goal achieved.

Hacer un delantal es algo que quería hacer desde hace tiempo, y les confieso, no tenía uno en mi cocina porque aunque a la verdad si podía comprar uno por hasta menos de 3 dólares, quería hacerlo yo, y éste concurso fue la ocasión perfecta para no posponerlo más y el fin de semana me ocupé exclusivamente a trabajarlo porque quería tenerlo listo para hoy, objetivo logrado.

No podría enseñarles a ustedes cómo hacer este delantal, seguramente ya todas o casi todas saben hacer uno hasta en tres dimensiones (no sé cómo sería esto, es una ocurrencia), pero si por allí queda alguien que como yo, esté apenas en unas pocas puntadas, ésta es la labor perfecta para ti y créeme, el resultado es más que satisfactorio, estarás feliz. Vamos por ello.

All you have to do is get a pair of jeans legs, if it's small the better, so you won't have to make reductions, I used one of my son Carlos, he's a 7 year old boy, and the size is perfect. The fabric is a little stress and light so it is not heavy at all. We open each piece by unpicking the inside seam, since the outside seams are reinforced and it is more difficult, both to unpick and to sew and join both pieces to make a single piece. Once unpicked, we joined with a backstitch along the entire length of each piece and we almost have the apron.

Solo tienes que conseguir un par de piernas de un pantalón jeans, si es pequeño mejor, así no tendrás que hacer reducciones, a mí me sirvió uno de mi hijo Carlos, es un niño de 7 años, y el tamaño es perfecto. La tela es un poco stress y liviana así que no queda pesado para nada Abrimos cada pieza descosiendo por la parte de la costura interna ya que las de afuera son reforzadas y es más difícil, tanto para descoser como para coser y unir ambas piezas y hacer una sola. Ya descosidas, unimos con un pespunte a todo lo largo de cada pieza y ya casi tenemos el delantal.

The details of this apron are what make it special, I knitted a couple of strips for the border. I originally wanted to do it for both the top and bottom, but I knew I hadn't knit the bottom long enough and had to use both, and I don't think it was necessary to place the top one, it would have been overloaded.

Los detalles de este delantal son los que lo hacen especial, tejí un par de tiras para el borde. En principio quería hacerlo tanto para el superior como para el inferior, pero supe que no habia tejido la parte de abajo lo suficientemente larga y tuve que utilizar ambas, y creo que no fue necesario colocar la de arriba, habría quedado muy recargado.

I knitted the part that goes from one end to the other at the top, that is, the part that goes over the neck. I sewed a couple of pockets on the front and all the other decorative elements. I made the labels by cutting them out of an absorbent kitchen towel, they are of very good quality, it is a kind of felt so it won't get damaged when I wash it, as it is made for that, these I paid them with cold silicone as I had too many decorative seams with the pockets.

Tejí la parte que va de un extremo al otro en la parte superior, es decir, la que va sobre el cuello. Cosí un par de bolsillos al frente y todos los demás elementos decorativos. Las etiquetas las hice recortando de un paño absorvente para cocina, son de muy buena calidad, es una especie de fieltro así que no se va a dañar cuando lo lave, pues está hecho para eso, éstos los pagué con silicón frío ya que tenía demasiadas costuras decorativas con los bolsillos.
