Under the Crown Of the Ancient Tree

IMG_20210511_022652.jpg

I was not prepared for what I saw and experienced during my walk that day.

IMG_20210511_021608.jpg

Because I was walking in the "city of youth".

In the park of the "city of youth", built in 1947.

In the largest of its three parks, because this city is also one of the
greenest cities in the country.

And here, along with the pompous names of alleys, such as the Alley of New Life, I expected to find only such pompous things.

So, you can imagine my surprise when I came across this:

two centuries-old trees on either side of the alley, fenced in as a warning to anyone passing by.

This is a 280-year-old Quercus frainetto, Hungarian oak or Italian oak.

Height 13 m and trunk circumference 3.5 m.

That's the same tree, Quercus frainetto, but it is 370 years old.

Height 15 m and trunk circumference 4.5 m.

Both trees were declared in 2013 by the Ministry of Environment and Water as Protected Century Trees.

Lol! That's like...well, not like a time machine, but I can assure you that standing under the crowns of such trees is a very special feeling.

IMG_20210511_022855.jpg

Then one can feel even more how small he really is and how transient his life is. How he is here today and not tomorrow.

IMG_20210511_022958.jpg

But tomorrow, whether you're dead or not, this centenarian will continue to stand here. It will continue to guard the alley as a faithful and dignified guard, It will meet the new generation of ants (humans) and it will cast a dignified shadow, protecting them from the sun.

And if that's not a great example of #AmazingNature, then I don't know what else could be an example of that!

IMG_20210511_022622.jpg

That's my first contribution for #treetuesday.

Happy Tree Tuesday to you all and keep noticing the amazingness of nature!
