Swamp Things #turtletuesday

Here are a few swamp things for this #turtletuesday

I visited the ultimate goopy duck weed swamp and found a ton of painted turtles.

There must be hundreds of them under the muck and they like to climb up out of the depths of the swam to warm up in the sun.

You can watch the little submarines poke their heads up to survey the various spots to try and climb on for basking.

These two little guys didn't even dive in as I approached close to them. I'm sure they valued this real estate more than a potential predator grabbing them from the shore lol.

The more I looked off in the distance the more dome shaped shells I noticed.

The big ones seem to like it farther away from shore. Maybe the older wiser ones are more cautious and survive longer than the reckless younger ones.

I wonder if this poor little guy can even absorb any sunlight with all this duck weed all over him.

Here's another one that just emerged bringing layers of duck weed with him.

Sometimes I can see them actually stacked on top of each other. This usually happens early in the morning so I missed peak turtle stacking, maybe next time lol.

I even found a nice shiny one off the edge of the lake probably on her way to lay eggs and produce even more turtles for the swamp. They have quite the ecosystem in this little spot.

That's all for now, thanks for looking :-)
