This week theme was: 'Сity Park' -- and of course, I am in.
Мой город Санкт-Петербург, достаточно зеленый и просторный (если мы не говорим об историческом центре города). И два парка расположены прямо рядом со мной, 10 минут пешком - счастье и золотая удача! Oсобенно для меня -- велосипедиста, фотографа-любителя, наблюдателя за природой.
The city of St.Petersburg where I live is quite green and spacious (if we're not talking about the historic center). Two parks are located in a walking distance from me (less then 10 minutes) - this is happiness and golden luck! This is especially good for me, as I am a cyclist, an amateur photographer, and a nature admirerer.
Оба парка - разные, каждый хорош по-своему. "Парк Победы", в котором мы с моим ребенком гуляем чаще, расположен рядом со станцией метро, имеет много детских площадок, парк аттракционов, статуи, цветники, красиво спланированные пейзажи, живописные берега прудов и островки, в нем встречаются грибы (грибы вообще везде растут, хехе!). Последние семь лет я посещал его почти каждый день, потому что проходил его по пути в свой офис и обратно. Это - очень культурное место, огороженное решеткой, имеющее входы и выходы, специально созданное для прогулок и мероприятий...
Both parks are different, each is great in its own way. "The Victory Park" ("Park Pobedi"), where we go for a walks more often, is located next to the metro station with same name. It was set up here in 1950-es right after the WW2. It has many playgrounds, an amusement park, statues, flower beds, beautifully planned landscapes, picturesque banks of ponds and islets, some mushrooms as well (mushrooms go everywhere, hehe!). For the past seven years, I was trespassing it almost every day because it was the shortest way to my office. It is a very 'cultural' place, fenced in by a fence, with entrances and exits. A place, intentionally created for walks and events ...
Парк Авиаторов - совершенно другое дело. Грубо говоря, это квадратный кусок земли, оставшийся между кварталами "спальной застройки", с прудом и полуостровом посередине (общая площадь около 3-4 км). Дикое место, руки "дизайнеров городской среды" сюда не дотянулись (к счастью). Именно поэтому я люблю это место. Точнее говоря: я люблю оба парка, но по-разному. Герой моего сегодняшнего поста - Парк Авиаторов.
Aviators Park is a completely different deal. Roughly speaking, this is a square piece of land left between the quarters of "dormitory buildings", with a pond and a peninsula in the middle (total area is about 3-4 km). A wild dirty piece of natural land, the hands of "urban environment designers" fortunately did not reach it. This is exactly why I love this place. Well, I love both parks, but I experience different types of love in both cases. The hero of my today's post is the Aviators Park.
Я хожу сюда реже, чем в Парк Победы, и очень нерегулярно. Я использую парк для совместных велопрогулок с моей дочерью, соответственно мы бываем здесь весной и осенью (лето обычно проводится в деревне, а зимой детские площадки Парка Победы - гораздо интереснее). Но если погода позволяет, а мои глаза и разум говорят мне что они устали от окружающего цементно-асфальтового мегаполиса, я беру камеру и иду гулять сюда.
I come here less often then I visit the Victory Park, I absolutely cannot count how many times I have been here during in a year ... as this is very irregular. I use this park for joint cycling with my daughter, respectively, we do it during the spring and autumn season (summer is usually spent at the village outside of city, and in winter the Victory Park playgrounds and alleys are much more attractive place to go). But if the weather permits, and my eyes and mind tell me that they are tired of the surrounding cement-asphalt metropolis, I take my camera and go for a walk here.
(Кстати, весной 2020 - когда горожанам запретили посещение детских, спортивных площадок и общественных парков - Парк Победы был закрыт на замок и обклеен запрещающими лентами, Авиаторов же остался открыт, хехе (там нет решеток, которые можно было бы закрыть на замок!) и послужил спасением, единственным местом где можно было гулять, дышать кислородом, зарабатывать иммунитет - не боясь нарваться на штраф).
(By the way, I can't help but mention that last spring - when the city authorities banned the townspeople from visiting playgrounds, sports grounds and public parks - Victory Park was locked and pasted over with prohibiting police tapes, and Aviator Park remained open, hehe (it has no bars and hedges that could be locked!) and served as a salvation, the only place where you could walk, breathe oxygen, earn immunity - without fear of paying a large fine ...)
Здесь никто не собирает осенью листья с земли, убивая почву - листья остаются лежать, укрывая землю и всех благодарных обитателей. Это очень, очень, очень важный аспект... В целом, в городе - и в большинстве городов - почва уже мертва... она убита, во многом благодаря ежегодной варварской уборке листьев. Какое облегчение и наслаждение, что это место до сих пор имеет живую почву -- дом для стольких многих созданий! Фото выше я сделал этой весной, я пришел в парк 10 мая, когда листья начали распускаться на деревьях, разгреб листву... и нашел первые грибы, а также маленького жучка, смотри фото ниже.
Here, no one collects leaves from the ground in autumn, killing the soil - the leaves remain lying, covering the ground and all grateful inhabitants. This is a very, very, very important aspect ... In general, in the city - and in most cities - the soil is already dead ... it is killed, thanks in large part to the barbaric annual harvest of leaves. What a relief and delight it is that this place still has living soil - home to so many creatures! I took the photo above this spring, I came to the park on May 10, when the leaves began to bloom on the trees, raked the foliage ... and found the first mushrooms, as well as a small bug, see the photo below.
Mica caps fungi - with a small visitor. It looks like a plush teddy-bear toy. Except it just 0.5 mm in size! @nikv is to thank for identifying the name: Red velvet mite (Trombidium holosericeum).
One more mushroom I found here, that I didnt identify yet.
Здесь есть дубы и жёлуди, клены, березы, черемуха, сирень, ивы... и яблони! (думаю, 50 лет назад это место было пригородом и сельскохозяйственным местом, фруктовым садом, но потом город поглотил его).
The park has oaks and acorns, maples, birches, bird cherry trees, lilacs, willows ... and apple trees! (I think 50 years ago this place was a suburb and an agricultural place, an orchard, but then the city swallowed it up).
Одна из яблонь. Нет, она не дает яблок... Но тут растет оранжевый лишайник - благодатный сюжет для того, кто любит макро. Однажды я даже пришел сюда, специально вооруженный штативом, чтобы провести фотосессию с лишайниками.
One of the apple trees in the photo above. No, she doesn't give apples in autumn ... Orange lichen grows on old apple trees - a fertile subject for someone who loves macro photography. Once I even came here, armed with a tripod, specifically to do a photo session with lichens...
I know exactly where to go, in case if I suddenly would want to have a luxurious macro session with lichens / Eсли я вдруг захочу устроить роскошную макро-сессию с лишайниками - я знаю совершенно точно, куда мне идти.
A tree...
Однажды два года назад мне потребовались фотографии по теме "Отражения". Я вспомнил о тростниках, растущих вдоль пруда, и провел успешную фотосессию, делая фотографии отражения тростников... Это богатое место человека с камерой вместо удочки. Горожане любят здесь гулять, делать пробежки, кататься на байках, лежать на траве, загорать, играть в волейбол, пить пиво, курить кальян... масса сюжетов для стрит-фото.
Once, two years ago, I needed photos for the contest with the topic 'Reflections'. I remembered the reeds growing along the pond and had a successful photo shoot, taking photos of their reflections... This is such a rich place! One may say it has everything a photographer may need (although, of course, this would be an exaggeration). City residents love to walk, jog, ride a bike, relax on the green grass, bask in the summer sun, play volleyball, drink beer, even smoke hookah... all this can be photographed - a good place for street photography.
Птицы любят это место. Именно здесь я сделал многие из фотографий, которые опубликовал в сообществе Ф-Ф (но чайки, голуби и вороны можно наблюдать везде). В парке есть один укромный уголок, скрытый кустами, где висит птичья кормушка - я особенно люблю это место, оно позволяет спрятаться с теле-объективом и подкараулить в засаде интересных птиц, которых я обычно не вижу. Я даже ухитрился увидеть здесь соловья! правда, он хорошо спрятался в кустах и моя фотография не заслуживает того чтобы ее показывать :)
Birds love this place. There are a lot of seeding stations scattered across the area. This is where I took many of the photographs I posted to the #FeatheredFriends community (but seagulls, pigeons and crows can be seen everywhere). There is one secluded corner in the park, hidden by bushes, where a bird feeder hangs - I especially love this place, it allows you to hide with a tele-lens and ambush interesting birds that I usually don't see. I even managed to see a nightingale here! however, he hid well in the bushes and my photo does not deserve to be shown :)
This spring I happened to be in a right time in a right place, to meet a blackbird chicks (and shoot them).
For the last two years, every spring, I have been observing nests of grebes and teal ducks in aforementioned reeds. Long live biodiversity! / Последние два года, каждую весну я наблюдаю в местных тростниках гнезда чомги и утки-чирка. Разнообразие!
Говоря о деревьях, я забыл упомянуть ивы. Как раз на этой неделе я сделал пост с фотографией, которая обязана растущим в этом парке причудливым ивам. Очень фотогеничные деревья - источник радости для многих фотографов.
Speaking of trees, I forgot to mention willows. This park has several willows growing across the pond with very photo-friendly shapes - they are a source of inspiration for so many photographers!

Animals... except of the birds, I cant pretend we have a sufficient biodiversity here! But definitely there live some wild rats here, one may see here domestic horses and ponies being walked out (and feed them!), and of course, cats and dogs.
This nice kitty is domestic (I met it in the park two times), but really looks like a wild one.
The insects variety isnt high, but macro photographer still has what to play with. Above: the ladybug I shoot here this summer.
The park has no garden flowers ... except of those that appear themselves, without any permission. However, it was here that I came to take macro photos of apple tree and bird cherry in bloom. / Парк не имеет цветов... кроме тех, что растут без разрешения. Однако именно сюда я пришел весной, чтобы сделать макро фотографии цветущей яблони и черемухи.
Fish! Fish is harder to notice, but this water definitely contains some living fish. During one of my walks I've got acquainted with a 8-year little boy who was a passionate fishermen. He allowed me to shoot his trophi:
