A couple weeks ago, I went for a stroll through a local garden that has a wide assortment of beautiful flowers and trees, a true gem just hiding in plain site behind a large fence!
Gardenview Horticultural Park has been located in Strongsville, Ohio(a suburb of Cleveland) for over 60 years, having been donated to the community for the public to enjoy. There are two full time employees that care for the 16 acres, including a pond and arboretum.
The front of the garden has a nice pathway to walk through a variety of beautiful flowers. You can be certain to find something in bloom throughout the seasons .. although they say mother's day is the best time for the blossoms!
There's is no shortage of color around this time of year!
And many hints of life still yet to come!
You get a bit of the subtle ...
... And a lot of the bold!
Behind this wall is a busy state route that will take you all the way to Florida!
A cute duck family was some of the life hanging around one of the ponds, we had to be quiet as to not scare them away!
I have seen deer in the past here, but not today.
There are many unique plants to take in, who knows what this one is!
This garden has been featured in several local and national television appearances and websites, including HGTV and TripAdvisor.
I really only got a small portion of the Park, they have a nice greenhouse area where all the up and coming plants are starting out.
There is also an arboretum area of 10 acres in the back that I've never even been to.
I'm not even sure I'd be allowed to go back there, next time I go I will work up the courage to ask!
All In all, this is a pretty small operation that started with the vision of just one person!
I did see some weeds in the mix, so they clearly must have to spend many hours to keep the garden in decent shape.
What secrets of this garden did I overlook?
This place is definitely on my list of area attractions that require a visit at least once it twice a year!
There are many more great views below, so enjoy these colorful photos and try to take in some of the beauty around you, wherever that may be!
You might even find that you have some nice gardens in your neck of the woods that you didn't know about!
Which flowers were your favorite?
We're you able to identify any particularly exotic species?
Don't forget to stop by the park if you find yourself in the Cleveland area!
Entry is a mere $5 and I think memberships start at $25.
It is definitely one of Strongsville's best kept secrets!
So go ahead and put the 'petal' to the metal and get down here š šŗ š
