The light starts to return in January although very slowly and we don't go out until later in the morning when it starts to warm up a bit from the long cool night. Although it is nearing mid day the sun still sits low in the sky which makes for some interesting light breaking through the trees.

There was some light cloud in the sky which must of had some ice crystals in them for a sun dog had formed on the one side of the sun. Sun dogs are suppose to mean there will be foul weather but we had a real nice day and evening too.

Up on the hilltop (our favorite place to hike) there were a bit more clouds over to the east where the sun rose over the frozen lake.

With just a bit of cloud the evening had some interesting light. The tallest trees had their tops highlighted with pinkish light and the setting sun colored the clouds above the open field.
I turned my camera to the creative feature which puts different filters and gives a series of shots. It made a real interesting shot of the highlighted treetops!

There was a sunset over the field and when you looked down the road there was more color in the sky there.

As the light was leaving the fields we turned back home and caught the last bit of sunset in the pines and spruce at the top of our lane.

I love catching the setting sun! After I am content to come inside to the warmth of our home.
