Teaching little scared children.

They were trying to kill this scary thing by throwing thorny seed pods at it.

Yep he was really a little pissed off frog and we rushed over to pick him up.

It is actually a Karoo Toad and the kids mom was standing as far back as she could taking photos of her children with her phone during the action.
My wife Marian saw the commotion and I stopped the kids from throwing stuff at it. Then the teacher in me popped out and I gave the children an impromptu lesson about nature and the toads part in it.
Come and see.

There was the round thorny red seed pod and the little toad tried to cover himself.

I showed the kids how disappointed the little toad was and proceeded to tell them about the role of toads in nature.
But first I had to show them that the toad was not dangerous and that it had no teeth. So it cannot bite, but still they would not touch it.

Freedom as I placed the toad far out of their reach.

It was a Karoo Toad (Vandijkophrynus gariepensis).
Frogs and toads are indicators of the health of nature's eco-system and they say that whenever one sees a frog in nature, the water will be clear and safe to drink.

Finally here below are two lovely flower photos just to steady your nerves after seeing the "dangerous" creature :)

Mother nature has many interesting creatures and so many only look scary in order to scare their predators away. Some little harmless insects have bright yellow and red colors to warn predators that they are poisonous, even when they are not. This is all the defenses in nature to keep the eco-system going. Many harmless insects and small animals are killed on sight by that big animal called mankind and if only we will take a deeper look, it will really surprise us with its wonderful creations.
Such is life and I still cannot understand why anyone would kill a chameleon.

We hope that all of you will have a great and blessed new week.

And That's All Friends.
