Welcome to the next episode of photo-series dedicated to hiking adventures. Last weekend, I walked a bit in the Jeseniky mountains (Czechia), so I could not miss the opportunity to share this fresh experience with you😄 That is the reason I have not still finished the follow-up episode (aka Hike #38b) of our trekking in Slovakian mountains. Have fun reading😉
8 am. My journey starts at the settlement Žďárský Potok. A croc welcomes me warmly.
What a busy anthill. There's gonna be more, I can promise you that.
A close look!
Who would expect cranberries the very last day of April, 2022?
Yummy, last year edition.
On the summit Ostružná (1184 m.a.s.l.), you can rest in this shelter. I am seeking for a better spot though.
Nearby, I climb up a little rock formation and enjoy views.
Breakfast above trees on the rock!
How do branches look like inside a tree?
This area is full of anthills. One year they tried to count all of them, they came to a number around 1300. Unique in the context of Central Europe.
If you are an ant-lover, you cannot miss an area around the chalet Alfrédka😁
They have some trouble with a cone at the other anthill.
Cocoon of future little frogs.
Zooming in.
Well, it is not that easy to take shots in these conditions.
A bit further, I stumble upon this toad (Bufo bufo).
Four meters down the road, I discover her legacy.
I also discover charm of waterlogged paths.
Above the river.
Beautifully blooming but toxic - this is daphne (Daphne mezereum).
Velký kotel (loosely translated as The Grand basin).
Finally, on the ridge. I came here from that mountain on the right.
Still more than a meter of snow!
The rock formation Petrovy kameny on the left (loosely translated as Peter's Stones) and the highest peak of the mountains - Praděd (1491 m.a.s.l.) with its tower (plus ~146 meters). By the way, close to the aforementioned rock, there is a ski slope which is still operational.
Now in a hurry to manage some beer before departure of my bus😁
This is well-known footpath along the river Bílá Opava (White Opava). It is 4 pm, I dare to take this trail as at this time it is not that crowded. Look at that beaten path in the snow, I call it a mountain highway.
Just finished washing myself with water of the creek. Yeah, I got a few scratches, but as I say - There is no good trek without scratches!
It is 5 pm, I made it to the village Karlova Studánka. Filling up the bottle with spring water causing wind!
Well at last! A refreshing 12° lager Silesian Jug at the Hotel Džbán (Jug Hotel). This is the last shot of the hike.
Hike data recorded by watch with GPS on = more accurate, no more excessive steps counted by various apps😆
Note: I am not racing, so I do not stop tracking when relaxing as there is a high chance that I forget to turn it on after the break is over. What I do care about is GPS tracking = distance and elevation info.
This was Saturday of April 30, 2022. Thank you for reading this post. If you like it, stay tuned as more cool stuff will definitely come. In the meantime, don't forget to check out my Pinmapple profile to see all places I have visited on the map! See you on the mountain path😉
