Our Humble Park - Amazing Nature:Thematic Challenge -#3/1/21

Our park is very small. Аctually, it can't be called a City Park as it is located in a very small town, so it is a Town Park . I am very glad that this week challenge is about parks because it gives me a chance to tell you about our discreet, humble northern park which we love a lot.

Of course, it is very beautiful in the spring, summer and especially in the autumn, but now it is winter, we have what we have, but I find our park beautiful at any weather if you agree with me or not 😁.

All the pictures were taken by me last week when the temperature was about -20° C and there was no sun visible in the sky but even in that weather it was a pleasure to walk through the park, although it was not an easy task to take pictures 😀.

This piece of nature makes not a wide line between our main street and the edge of a cliff which has a geological name "glint". While walking along the park, you can clearly see both sides.

In the two pictures below roofs of two buildings can be seen behind the trees.

The opposite side looks at the street. The park that side looks much brighter even in as dull weather as it was that day. 🙂

The playground even has the instruction explaining how to use it, which I find quite funny.

We have different kinds of trees in the park, and Biology teachers often take children there for a lesson in the nature.

Two paths lead us from the Culture Centre to the Sports Centre. Many people choose these ways in the nature better than go along the road.

Even in its small area, in the centre of the town, our park has lots of inhabitants - birds and squirrels.
Be sure that people care of our feathered and furry friends and feed them this difficult winter time.

Just look at this bird sitting on the green pack and eating from it!

Here you can see the bird inside the balloon, I was lucky to catch the moment. It really was my luck because I was in hurry and had no time to wait - just snapshots on my way!

Some more feeding points.

This piece of pork fat with a skin is popular with the feathered inhabitants of the park, but I had no luck taking a photo.

In 50s-60s years of the last century (🙂 still sounds strange for me) the park was a place for people of the town to spend most of their free time, especially in the summer because there was an open air dance floor there. There are lots of old photographs in the town museum with smiling people dancing and talking there. The park was decorated with gypsum (I'm not sure about the material, it could be cement) sculptural "masterpieces" of athletes which were typical park sculptures for that time period. They have not survived, but their pedestals still stand in some places reminding older Sillamäe dwellers those times.

The only thing made me sad during my walk - the piece of wood nailed to the trunk of an old tree. The wood looked also very old.

img_20210123_153036.jpg

It was difficult for me to understand the reason for such a barbaric treatment of a living thing. That remaind out of my understanding until, while sorting the photos for this post, I noticed this construction on one of my pictures.

img_20210123_134930.jpg

The only excuse for that act of vandalism can be that the construction is really very old, probably, done 60 or 70 years ago, and therefore it could be dangerous for the trees to take them off.

Nature is absolutely amazing and can heal and protect itself even from some terrible actions of unwise humans.
