It's going to be a hot day here and I was out on the deck early watering the potted plants to give them a better chance to survive the blazing sun.
There was plenty of activity in the lilac bush as a family of Titmice fledglings created a ruckus with their wing fluttering and calls to their parents to bring them food. I think that I will be as happy as the parents when this noisy bunch begins to feed themselves!
Male and female Tufted Titmice are identical in plumage with a black patch above the beak and a a gray back.
I was waiting for this titmouse to move closer to the Petunias so that I could get a new BIRDS and FLOWERS photo for @nelinoeva's theme this week in the Feathered Friends SMaP Contest Round 29 but he wasn't at all cooperative, and this was the best I could do.
This male Cardinal landed on a plant hanger, but his lady friend stayed in the lilac bush. They were a bit nervous about me being out there.
It's always a surprise to see a rabbit in my yard. There are enough fox, coyote, eagles and owls around that they don't last long. But this little cottontail didn't mind me taking pictures while he ate breakfast in the grass. !
