As some of you know I’m in the UK at the moment. For the first time during SPRING SEASON…
So I couldn’t skip to go and see the Bluebells in some ancient woodlands.
Let me show you how Bluebells look like and give you some information about them and the woods you can find them in.
Location of the area we walked through the woods, found on Google maps:
See the yellow star ⭐️ It’s an ancient wood in Barnsdale, Oakham next to Rutland water.
These are the Bluebells.

It states: ”Hyacinthoides non-scripta (formerly Endymion non-scriptus or Scilla non-scripta) is a bulbous perennial plant, found in Atlantic areas from north-western Spain to the British Isles, and also frequently used as a garden plant. It is known in English as the common bluebell or simply bluebell, a name which is used in Scotland to refer to the harebell, Campanula rotundifolia. In spring, H. non-scripta produces a nodding, one-sided inflorescence of 5–12 tubular, sweet-scented violet–blue flowers, with strongly recurved tepals, and 3–6 long, linear, basal leaves.
H. non-scripta is particularly associated with ancient woodland where it may dominate the understorey to produce carpets of violet–blue flowers in "bluebell woods", but also occurs in more open habitats in western regions.”
Let me take you through the woods to look at them 😎
After parking our car along the road, as the car park was closed. We walked right into the woods via a sandy path.
After a few meters we saw the entire forest floor covered with the bluebells.
A close up… aren’t they beautiful 🤩
They are literally everywhere.
As they just started to bloom some are still closed.
These bluebells are the last spring flowers to open up in the woodlands.

It states: “Bluebells are traditionally woodland flowers. They can grow very close together, which creates the beautiful sea of bluebells. They prefer the rich, undisturbed soils of long-established woods, so you're most likely to see them in old and ancient woodland. You might also spot them growing along hedgerows, and in fields and gardens.”
As we walk further we are getting closer to the water-edge of Rutland water. You see it through the trees appearing.
The bluebells are getting denser.

Passing by all of this…
I find a tree stump.
It’s resting between all the lovely bluebells. I’m sure it likes its location 😉
A bit further we walked and we are still surrounded by them. 🥰
I find a small group of bluebells to show you the flower in its entirety.
Surrounded by the autumnal leaves it makes a pretty sight.
The woodland floor is getting denser.
We follow a narrow path now further.

We pass the fallen tree branches…
I find another tree log… with great textures surrounded by the blue bells.
I see a path going to the water and follow it to take a few photographs.
Lots of details 🤩 I love details, textures and all the things that surrounds me. Especially NATURE!
One last photo before I go back to the other path.
Now we walked to the edge of the forest… we enter a field.
We see:
These views.
A pair of Swans see us and come towards us.
They are curious… 🦢🦢
Beautiful 🦢🦢
We walk up through the field.
Where we find a faster path/ road back towards the car.
Next to us we see these views: still loads of Bluebells 🌱🌱🌱🌱
A last close up of some bluebells.
I found some celandine.
And a dandelion between them too.
