While in America with my wife last year we heard about the Bloedel Reserve Botanical Gardens seeing that we were going to be in Seattle visiting some friends we were going to take the opportunity to visit these beautiful gardens as we both love nature. The Bloedel Reserve is about 150 acres of forest gardens situated on Bainbridge Island, Washington, United States. It's a short ferry ride from Seattle ferry terminal off State Route 305 to Bainbridge Island.
At the time we were in America it was the coming to the end of spring and going into autumn so the weather was unpredictable and as it was the day we were heading over to Bainbridge island was cool , wet and hazy and we had over tickets booked so we weren't going to let that defer us we love seeing gardens flowers wet just looks more fresh and romantic and cooler to walk around.
Upon getting to Botanical Gardens it was still hazy and drizzling we made our way to this beautiful guest house grabbed some umbrellas and off we went didn't want to waste anytime getting amongst these beautiful gardens they have moss gardens , reflection gardens , Japanese gardens and many more and we wanted to see them all.
The pathways leading around the gardens is just over 2 miles long and it's no aggressive hiking with lots of beaches around to sit down if you needed a rest. It's perhaps more well known and visited in the spring and summer but fall always brings a lot of color and offers a restful respite from a busy life , it was very peaceful and tranquill.
Honestly with the Japanese gardens they were so well done you really thought you were in Japan they really blow my mind out.
The fall foliage was gorgeous if you like a fall wedding this would be the perfect place. The variety and beauty of this place can't be overstated.
Even though it was hazy and drizzling all day we spent a good 2-3 hours walking around and reading about the plants and flowers. There were many places to sit and take in the surroundings and revel in the peace and quiet of the place we were in no hurry this was an opportunity to slow down and take in the beauty.
I have visited many beautiful gardens all over the world but the Bloedel Reserve is the first one that made me feel jealous. You get a real diverse feeling of garden styles from European inspired designs, to very authentic Japanese style gardens. It’s a good as it gets.
Bloedel Reserve was like heaven on earth and it was so worth the visit to be amongst nature. You can smell the fresh crisp air, and enjoy the beautiful sceneries without a care in the world. We came away so relaxed and inspired with ideas for our garden it was a beautiful memorable way to leave America.
