Light and dark faces of my beautiful beach

Nature truly is amazing as well as beautiful to behold. Sometimes she is light and golden. At other times dark and sultry. Let me show you these opposing faces of the same sea shore that is my playground paradise here on the southernmost shore of Africa.

I've been blessed to have this one same beach as my base for the past 16 years. It always remains the same geographically and yet also shows diverse and opposing sides, depending on the climate and time of year. And although I've explored it so many times, from top to bottom, still I never tire of seeing it's beauty and inhaling the healthy invigorating atmosphere.

If you're one of the fortunate souls that live at the coast, then you might know what I'm talking about. That said, not all shorelines display the beauty of this unique landscape - or is it seascape? Either way is an escape from the mainland into a sacred space, or so it feels to me. This beach is my sanctuary and my temple, where I commune with the divine, or where it's easy to enter that sacred space within oneself.

Recently while exploring on the rocks, I came across this rope tied to a rock and running into the water, as you can see in the photo above. Fishermen frequent this place so I presume they have some sort on stash here. Although I don't eat fish or flesh, some folks do and can survive from the catch that this beach provides. Life is easy on this beach, in this region of Africa's southernmost shores.

Paradise is, of course, a state on mind. Yet this beach makes it easy to feel as if you've found paradise on earth. Anyone who might be suffering under the negative effects of life on Earth can find healing and sanctuary here. And this is possible all year long in any season because this region, like Hawaii, has the mildest climate with the least extremes of any climate on earth. It's called a Mediterranean Climate, because it's also at 34 degrees latitude, except it's in the south, not Northern Hemisphere.

Just see, in the photo above, how calm and tranquil the ocean is on this particular day. Despite the small waves a surfer still manages to catch a ride, if you look closely. The peninsula in the background acts as a protecting barrier for the bay, which attracts whales every winter to take shelter here for giving birth to their young. It's a sanctuary for all.

Sometimes in summer thick rain clouds form overhead, giving a dramatic visual effect, though the beach remains attractive and exciting. This is her dark side, which beautifully contrasts the normally lighter setting. You can see how clean and soft and white the sand is, and how it stretches for miles. There's seldom a crowd, except perhaps for holiday season from December through February.

What better place to spend your lifetime on earth, if you're a nature lover. This is the perfect place for yoga and meditation, as it's in the mode of goodness (sattva guna), very clean and peaceful. I would recommend it to anyone. And once you're here you'll find it hard to leave, unless of course for an even better beach, of which there are numerous.

If you ever feel the need to escape your worldly struggles, then please feel inspired to join me on this sanctuary beach, in the town of Plettenberg Bay, on the south coast of Africa. You'll rediscover your health and peace of mind. Paradise awaits you. I'll show you around.
