The shocking pink revelations of nature at its most psychedelic

If a picture is worth a thousand words, then I would like to place these photos of my hike along the cliffs of the south Cape coast of Africa here on the blockchain for posterity. And for the pleasure of all those who behold them, here is the pure and free treasure of nature, captured in its full bloom and beauty. The seasons may change and the flowers come and go, but the place remains the same, awaiting the bloom of the next cycle, when the conditions are ripe once more.

Such is the nature of our life on earth. It’s a cyclic affair, as we see in our surroundings. These summer bloomers are possibly the most shocking pink you have ever seen. And they really are that color. I have not manipulated the photos in any way. This is nature expressing itself like a psychedelic circus. Nature also knows how to shake up the otherwise dull landscape with a few bright glints of larger than life gems.

These flowers are from the species endemic to this region of the southern Cape coastline of the African continent. The “fynbos” species, as it’s known locally, is a rare treasure because here we find the most prolific collection of varying plant life species in such a small geographical location. In this thin strip of coastline along the southern strip of the African continent, you can find as many species as you will find in the whole of the Amazon rain forests of Brazil and South America.

You could say they are concentrated, not only in diversity, all squashed into one place, but also in the color of the flowers, as seen here today. I’m not sure of the genus and species name, it could be a type of “vygie” as they call them here in the vernacular. Some botanists among us may be keen to look it up. These succulent little plant species like to hug the ground and blossom in Spring and Summer for the pleasure of the bees.

When I see these bright shades I feel like a bee myself, perhaps on the way to the Hive. These flowers must be filled with nectar. I wonder if they taste as psychedelic as they look, to the bees? I will keep the post short today, and let the photos speak for themselves, a thousand words each. These photos are taken on my hike along what is known as the Garden Route coastline, with the Indian Ocean in the background.

This is how it looks at the southern shoreline of Africa, just s few steps from my home and a few hundred miles from my place of birth in Cape Town. The vegetation is a dark green throughout, presumably from the hot African sunshine. And the flowers are bright and larger than life, if a color could be considered as such. This is truly a beautiful tapestry woven by nature – one hardly seen by human eye. It’s a remote region, even though the little town is nearby. I come here often, all year long, and yet see so few other people around.

Therefore I may be one of the only people to see these magically brightened flowers. And today you are also able to see them too, wherever you are on the planet. It may be historically frozen and snowed over up north of the planet this season, but here in the deep south it’s blossoming like a dessert bowl full of happy sweet delights. I can try to find the right imagery with words but I will struggle to do adequate justice to these flowers, so I’ll let the photos tell the story.

I hope you are able to tap in to the beauty of nature wherever you are, and gain some invigorating inspiration and good health as a result. Otherwise I recommend sourcing a location for yourself that can give you access to the healing vitality of the natural environment. You deserve it. And it’s there for you wherever you may be.
