Some time in February, particularly during Chinese New Year, I visited a secluded place somewhere in New Territory, a neighborhood quite away from Hong Kong cities. It was quite a memorable day because some unexpected things happened along the way. This made me reach the destination at sunset. My initial purpose for visiting this place was to ride a bicycle. However, I wasn't able to locate shops renting bicycles, so I ended up walking to this place.
Although I was uncertain of what lay ahead of the long, stretching road by the Kam Tim River Bank, which was ideal for biking, I didn't regret walking because along the way were scenic views that somehow relieved my exhaustion.
The sun began to descend when I reached almost 80% of the distance. I started my walk at four in the afternoon and reached my ideal destination at six. Beforehand, these scenes along the way captivated my attention, which made my pace even slower just to capture the golden hour scenic views.
Behind the fence surrounding the wetland was a beauty to behold. The sunset cast a warm, golden glow over the landscape. This place that I visited is a wetland covered by green fields and water areas. It always feels relaxing to see reflections of the sun and surrounding trees and grasses on the water. It gives me a sense of tranquility and beauty that I truly appreciate.
Walking forward, I spotted some individuals and family groups enjoying the view of the sunset along the river bank and Education trail. Seeing some people in the area gave me a sense of relief. It was an indication that I was almost near my ideal destination, and that I wasn't alone anymore. Some people were biking along the road, which made me envious of the fact that I failed to achieve my initial goal that day. It's been years that I haven't biked, so it was really my plan to do so. Yet I enjoyed walking too, so there's no regret.
On top of that, seeing the golden hour scenery is a reminder that, in the midst of a busy life, regardless of the unexpected circumstances that happen, the day will always end beautifully 😊.
