The halfway lookout before Maracas beach from which you get a lovely view of the Maracas bay. You also get refreshments and a lot of knickknacks.

A view from a halfway lookout located before Maracas Beach. Most people make a pitstop here to take a picture or two for the old Instagram.

Next stop Las Cuevas another great beach especially for swimming as the beach is a little more gradual and calmer. It's not usually as crowded as Maracas as there aren't as many food stalls. If I recall correctly there was only one.

Some boats down at the Blanchisseuse fishing depot where you can buy freshly caught fish at a reasonable price. I usually buy Kingfish from here.

The Marianne river that rolls out onto the beach. When the tide is high the sea sometimes joins it and it a great spot to relax especially when the currents are rough.

Dad standing in front of an a suspension bridge in Blanchisseuse, more than a century old, has been condemned and replaced by a modern Bailey bridge at a cost of $2.7 million. The suspension bridge is one of only two in the country.

This beach- in Grand Riviere is at the eastern tip of the country. It's not a straight drive along the north coast .

Dear Hiveans, here are some pictures of trip to the north coast of Trinidad.
I find the most beautiful beaches like Maracas, Las Cuevas, La Fillet and Blanchisseuse.

Trinidad has a hill range that spans across the north of the island from East to West and covers 25% of the land mass in Trinidad. It makes it not so convenient to just take a detour after work for a little relaxation.
However that hill range is what protects us form hurricanes as it acts as a barrier.

Dad made a trip from India recently to visit my family in Trinidad and Tobago. My father-in-law who is an artist, worked in the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry division and pioneered the turtle preservation project in Mathura took him there. He happens to be a native of Blanchisseuse.

The drive takes about one and a half hours if you go from Maraval which is located in the capital city Port-of Spain close to where I live.
