Curious chipmunk

Hello, friends.
This post is my entry for the Amazing Nature Contest: FREE TOPIC - #2/1/24
In August, my friends and I climbed to the waterfall on Mount Borus. The climb is quite steep and about halfway up we sat down to rest near a large boulder. We were enjoying the peace and sounds of the taiga, when suddenly one of us noticed some movement on the boulder. Everyone froze and began to carefully observe the boulder. After some time, a chipmunk's head appeared from a crevice in the stone.

Then the chipmunk rose higher and looked around carefully.

The chipmunk apparently decided that we were not very dangerous, turned to us in profile and seemed to say his chipmunk prayer, or maybe just cleaned his face. All of us at this time, practically without breathing, filmed it with cameras and smartphone cameras.

After that, completely emboldened, the chipmunk showed himself completely to us. Interestingly, the length of a chipmunk's tail is almost equal to the length of its body.

Then, no longer paying attention to us, the chipmunk went about his important business. We managed to take several frames before the chipmunk ran down the boulder and disappeared into the grass.

Having rested and enjoyed communication with a representative of wildlife, we continued our way to the waterfall.

It is worth admitting that in August there was little water and the waterfall was rather weak. But such hikes bring pleasure regardless of the amount of water falling from the stones.
