Amazing Nature Contest - August 2021 - #03 | Original Content by @ipul27

Hola Nature Lovers! it's great to see you guys again on Amazing Nature Community.

Talking about nature, especially the wild nature, for me it's very special because we can find various amazing things there ranging from big things to small things.

An example is look at what happens to this leaf. at a certain phase, each leaf will experience natural decay, whether caused by animals such as caterpillars, insects, or other amazing natural decay.

I was walking in the middle of the forest to take pictures of some objects when I found the leaf. I was so stunned to see this, how perfect is the process of decay on this one leaf.

I have seen several other leaves that go through the same process, but this one is different, instead of a hollow leaf surface, this one leaves a perfect trail of leaf spokes.

Let's take a closer look, you can see that decay occurs on the leaf surface only, while the leaf bones consisting of leaf webs remain perfectly intact as one part with the leaf. Wow!
As if we can see how leaves are formed from their tissues.

On the other hand, I also found a leaf that was just starting the decay process. it starts from a speck of a hole in the center of the leaf.I hope this leaf will end up like the previous leaf, that is, it can leave a perfect leaf web, so that we can observe it.

It can be said, this decay process goes through several stages. In the first stage, on one side of the leaf surface there will be a brown circle between the other surfaces which are naturally green.

Some time later, the brown circle will rot and begin to slowly erode the leaf surface, some leaving beautiful leaf webs, while others will rot along with all parts of the leaf, even the bone of the leaf. Then this process of decay will spread slowly and spread to all sides of the leaf.

As far as I know, a similar process does not occur in all types of leaves, but only occurs in a few types of leaves with a thick texture, namely those with relatively strong bones and leaf tissue, so that these parts do not rot when the process occurs.
