After I posted an article about Corpse Flower in the last week's contest, today I'm gonna share about something special again. _ which is one of the rare types of plants, and only grows in certain places.
It can be said, this is a post about a plant that is very valuable to me, because this plant is one of the types of plants that are legally protected in my country, Indonesia. but anyway, I'm very happy to be able to share a little information about this one plant with all of you on Amazing Nature.
This is Tropical Pitcher Plant, This plant belonging to the family of the Nepenthes Genus is one of the carnivorous plants, in addition to absorbing soil nutrients through its roots (like other plants in general), they also prey on insects for additional nutrition... Really amazing isn't it ?! 😍
Most of Tropical Pitcher Plant species can be found in the interior of Borneo's forests (like this one).
I spent several hours on an expedition looking for this plant. The location is right in the middle of the dense forest of West Borneo.
And to observe this plant more specifically, please pay attention to the pictures I got below guys! _
At first glance, these plants grow in a pile in one location, forming like a shrub and spreading little by little.
The flower shape of this plant is very unique, which is like an empty tube and has a lid on the top. 😀 I just opened the lid a little and took a picture of the inside for me to show you, so I'm sorry if I didn't get a perfect picture in this part, I was quite careful to do it because I didn't want to damage the plant... _
As I said before, this plant is a carnivore, so it will prey on insects by trapping it into the tube, (for example like this one fly), when this fly slips into the tube, then, the lid on the This plant will be tightly closed to keep the fly away!...
Another unique thing is that, unlike ordinary flowers that grow on twigs and stalks, the flowers of this plant actually grow at each end of the leaf.
Over time, one by one the Tropical Pitcher Plant flowers will wither and die, but on the other hand, new flowers will soon grow to replace them. _
