"Pig Beach" is literally a beach where pigs live?!😲🐖

All of us who know a little about species introduced by man remember the introduction of the famous lionfish to the waters of the Caribbean, which has become the perfect home for this species of fish, we find a similar story with a group of pigs!

Bahamas Islands, a blue paradise

The Bahamas, officially the Commonwealth of the Bahamas, is one of the thirteen countries that make up Insular America or Caribbean Islands, it has 700 islands, cays and islets, the surprising thing is that only 24 of them are inhabited!
Its excellent tropical and subtropical climate make it perfect to spend hours by the sea. The Bahamas is a stable developing country, dependent on an economy based on tourism and banking.

The Exuma Archipelago

Exuma has 365 islands, that's right, you could be in each of these islands a year if you decide to visit a different one a day, there is a key here that houses a very curious group. It is known as Pig Island, an island totally uninhabited by humans, but where a friendly group of pigs roam freely.

Big Major Cay is 134 kilometers southeast of Nassau and 101 kilometers northwest of the district capital, George Town. And surely you are wondering how did these pigs get here? well, it's actually a mystery. Although what there is no doubt is that our protagonists are truly lucky to live in a little piece of paradise.

The theory

There is a theory that is the most accepted, a Dutch ship transported this group as food, and the crew decided to leave them on the island to later return for them. When the ship was wrecked, the pigs had to adapt to the conditions of the island and make it their new home, lucky ones!

How to get to this beach?

There are several possibilities to visit this island, the first would be to fly from Nassau to Staniel Cay and from here hire an excursion that reaches this destination. The second would be to fly from Nassau to George Town and book an itinerary with one of the companies heading to Pig Beach. The last would be to leave by boat directly from Nassau, on a tour that has guides with extensive experience.

Once here, the view is beautiful. We will find ourselves on a magazine beach with sapphire blue water and fine white sand, typical of the Caribbean! The best thing to do is to do your activities early in order to enjoy this corner of heaven more calmly, as social networks have contributed to the fame of the place soaring in recent years.

It is surprising to observe the adaptation of the approximately 20 pigs, swimming in the sea as if they had done it all their lives. Having become accustomed to the human presence, the docile and affectionate animals allow themselves to be caressed and have ceased their search for food in the forested periphery. The aforementioned protagonists are not completely alone and enjoy the company of some wild goats and cats.
