(Google translate from Czech)

Nature is such an extensive system that one person has no chance to know everything that nature has to offer. It is therefore good to have such a great community in which we can share knowledge from different parts of our planet.

Greetings to all fans of Amazing Nature Community

One way to share your knowledge of nature with others is through a Thematic Challenge. The last time we observed relatively large objects. This week we will watch more where we step and what comes under our feet :-). They are a new topic

BEETLES (of all kinds)

Your task for this topic is:

  • take a documentary photo
  • try to determine the species of the beetle to be monitored and write its scientific name
  • add an appropriate description of what, where and how you watched

Of course I have a little inspiration for you :-)

Wood Beetle (Anoplotrupes stercorosus)

On one of my walks I met these black-blue, metallic shiny beetles. In the Czech Republic we call them "rolling poop".

They have this derogatory folk name because they feed on the faeces of other animals or rotting organic matter.

They also lay their eggs in the rotting mass. The putrefaction process generates heat and thus helps to develop a new beetle.

It is interesting that this beetle belongs to the same family as the Egyptian scarab (sacred willowherb)

I wish you a nice time in nature while completing the task of this topic.

Here I will publish a post with the announcement including the winners (Announcement) EVERY MONDAY together with all your contributions (Contributions) EVERY SUNDAY. Each DNA member will be able to assign a "voting emoji" under the items for 24 HOURS. In the end, the lucky winners are three of them. In case of a draw, I will join as a judge.
